Name: Anish
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Bending/Fighting style: Airbending, Chakradhaari
Other notes on abilities: Anish's particular style of Airbending is much more aggressive than the traditional, evasive style as taught by the Air Nomads. Similar to Fire Benders, it relies on the use of overpowering force and lethal blows so as to secure an early victory.
Anish also incorporates the use of a Chakram [https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/d5/b7/10/d5b710bb95d0aac35016df1f12575a12.jpg] into his fighting style. With its aerofoil design uses it to supplement and enhance his attacks with Airbending, whilst also being a formidable weapons in his hands in its own right.
Ultimate: When faced with overwhelming odds or a sense of impending failure, Anish becomes overcome with a bout of manic bloodlust, a state in which he is capable of forming a localized tornado with a throw of his chakram that can devastate all its wake, with no regards to the surrounding area. This extraordinary feat requires time to build up the vortex, comes at the price of temporarily exhausting his Airbending, and often leaves his choice weapon beyond his grasp until it is retrieved.
Appearance: Relatively tall for an Airbender, Anish stands at just under six foot, with medium-length black hair that falls over his face in bangs. He has pale skin well-weathered from travelling, with true grey eyes and a scar across the bridge of his nose where he was hit by a stone as a boy. He sports the traditional colours of the Air Nomads, with a short-sleeved orange tunic tied with a yellow sash tied across his right shoulder and waist, coupled with brown pants and red knee-length split toe boots.
Equipment and Clothing / Important items: Aside from his coveted chakram, Anish also carries a glider for transportation, as well as a monk-style straw hat which he wears to avoid prying eyes.
Personality: Used to being alone, Anish is aloof to most who know him, adopting a haughty persona when talking to those he considers as below him. He dislikes getting involved in petty squabbles and is incredibly stubborn regarding most matters, however once he dedicates himself to a task he will direct all of his effort until it is accomplished. He is incredibly loyal to friends, uncharacteristically kind to children, and partial to gambling of any and all sorts.
Born in + Nation of Origin: Northern Air Temple
Current location: Taku City
Backstory: Anish was brought up in most the same way as all airbenders, raised by the Air Nomads at the Northern Air Temple and instilled with their values of pacifism and spiritual reflection. A sickly child throughout most of his youth, Anish was largely passed over by the other children in favour of others when it came to playing or working as a group. As a result of this, Anish came to regard those around him with quiet disdain, instead choosing to focus almost solely on his studies and scholarly activities rather than participating in the joyous play that the rest of his fellows incorporated into their own training.
Over time Anish proved himself to be a highly capable Airbender, showing a particular aptitude for feats of agility or finesse, as well as being seemingly adept at sensing disturbances through currents and vibrations in the air, to the point of being able to catch a fly blindfolded. However, despite his apparent skill Anish was often chided by his Elders for his temper as well as his resistance to adhere to the Nomads' pacifist ideology.
At the age of fifteen Anish had passed thirty-five of the tiers of Airbending when the Temple was visited by a travelling merchant by the name of Xu. The merchant explained how his caravan had been beset by bandits who had ambushed them at a mountain pass not two miles from here. He ashamedly recounted of how he ran at the first sign of trouble with as many wares he could carry. Presuming that the rest of his company were now dead he recalled rumours that the Air Nomads made a temple within the northern mountains their home, and that if he could make it there he might find some respite.
Despite the man's gruff and cowardly nature, the monks were gracious in their hospitality of the traveler, giving him food and lodging until he had recuperated. Anish, curious of life outside the temple, grew fond of the traveler, who often recounted tales of far-away cities and the wonders of boundless freedom. Anish was especially intrigued about the people of the Fire Nation, whom Xu spoke of in both fear and wonder, that had grown to be a powerful force due to their military might.
When the time finally came for him to leave, the merchant called for the young boy, gifting him with a brass discus-like object called a "Chakram" he was told belonged to a sect of Fire Nation warriors.
Anish practiced night and day with the weapon, determined to invent a new Airbending move that incorporated its use and earn his mastery tattoos. After demonstrating his newly lethal techniques by eviscerating a statue in front of the monks, Anish urged them to eschew their peaceful ways in favour of emulating the Fire Nation, to learn and conquer through force. The Temple Elders, unable to deter Anish from his destructive path, saw fit to banish him from their order, fearful that his presence would be a corrupting influence on the rest of their students.
For years he wandered the Earth Kingdom, taking odd work where he could, eventually being discussed of in hushed tones among mercenary circles as "the monk without a master", or even sometimes affectionately known as "Wind Shear". Whilst passing through the trade city of Taku, Anish heard word of a Fire Nation advance alongside rumours that the Avatar, a young airbender from the Southern Temple, had vanished amid mysterious circumstances. Feeling a pang of regret over his past and a resurgence of values instilled in his subconscious, Anish vowed to return with the Avatar as a way to contend with his past transgressions and as part of his duty as an Air Nomad.
