Out of our Estonian bands the one i love the most is probably Lemon Trees! They do post-rock. Not into the heavy/dark/death metal stuff, but there are a lot of bands like that here too. And I guess they're not that bad either (nobigsilence, splitmind, Euphoria etc)

The most famous band is probably Bedwetters. They won New sounds of Europe on the EMA in 2007 I think.

I'm glad we're in agreement :)

Also the topic is "AWESOME" bands out of you country, not 'good' 'alright' or 'decent' bands. Just sayin'

FAT FREDDY'S DROP. It's all you need.

NZ has an awesome reggae/roots scene.

Though if you prefer something a little rockier, i also love The Datsuns and Shihad.

Any English or American person who has posted here should be ashamed of themselves for not mentioning the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

OT: I would say Biffy Clyro and The Fratellis. But then I realised that they are in fact not very good, I just can't think of any other Scottish band.

EDIT: Yep, quick scrawl of wikipedia and I couldn't find one good, well-known Scottish band.

LOL smartass ;) Come on man, you can honestly tell me that you've heard all one thousand or so bands I just mentioned, and not a single one of them could be considered "Awesome?" I mean awesomeness is all relative, nobody's going to agree 100% of the time.

To make such an arbitrary statement like there's no good bands out of Canada strikes me as a bit naive, but everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose, even if it is misinformed.

And to say that Neil Young, The Tragically Hip, Steppenwolf, The Guess Who et.al. are not pure awesome is musical blasphemy! Blasphemy I say!

Britain's bands are mostly crap. Finland's are great, and I know some brilliant Dutch bands, but I can't think of any British ones off the top of my head. Well, good ones anyway!

Have you heard all those bands? Are you seriously telling me you think all those bands are awesome? Some of those are just plain laughable, Treble Charger? Really?

Then you say awesomeness is relative and people aren't going to agree all the time, and yet essentially what you're doing is arguing with me over what my opinion is. I think I'm the best judge of what my opinion is, and as you said we aren't going to agree all the time so... get over it?

To be fair there's probably some band out of Canada that I would think is awesome SOMEWHERE, but they may not even be in that enormous list you copy pasted. I mean my friends band is pretty good, and I grew up listening to Our Lady Peace when I was learning what music was and developing taste for it... but I doubt I would call them AWESOME (except to my friend's face because I like him :p)

Sorry if me saying that popular artists my parents generation and the media tell me are great aren't awesome is "blasphemy" to you. I like some music by all those groups, but I doubt I could ever put on a whole album by anyone one of them without skipping any tracks, nor would I ever call their music "awesome"

I'm glad someone likes Canadian artists though, I guess they deserve some credit and recognition for the music they make. Good thing radio stations HAVE to play their music otherwise more people would probably not even know of many of them and be as dissmissive as I am about Canadian music. I dont see how my opinion could possibly be misinformed, considering I am bombarded by Canadian artists whether I like it or not. I'm sorry if you cannot recognize that with Canada being such a small part of the world that it could be possible that Canadian music in the large scheme of things is just not as awesome as music from other places.

Seriously though, Treble Charger? TREBLE CHARGER? You're too much man.

Wow, and I thought MY posts were huge. Ok Treble Charger, I'll give you that...

And no, I did not copy/paste this list, these are all the Canadian Bands that I know of from over the years. Now is not the time to try and troll man, its way too late for that.

Now as far as me "getting over myself" I'm not the one that started this. And I certainly am not arguing with you over what your opinion is, that would be assuming that I cared about it.

You're entitled to believe whatever you want and I won't argue with that. But for you to suggest that no good music has ever come out of Canada is just asinine, and all I wanted to point out was a SMALL sample of the bands from this country, not all of which are "awesome" and not all of which I necessarily like. But all are noteworthy for their accomplishments, (except Nickleback, I try to deny I'm from the same province as them) regardless of either of our opinions.

But yeah, Treble Charger DOES kind of suck. I really really can't disagree with you there.

I'm the one who started it? Really? All I did was make a post in this thread of my opinion, you're the one who decided to respond directly to me and attempt to contradict what I was saying. This would seem much more like you started 'it'.

Also my post was obviously hyperbole, not meant to be taken as fact or even a 100% correct representation of my opinion. I mean I wrote laughter and was like yeah right, as if it was a joke and I was being silly not really meaning it as a completely serious statement. But in all honesty I do not care for Canadian music as much as I do bands from other places, and no matter how many times you respond to me I doubt that is going to change.
