That's right people, it has happened again.
34-year-old Shannon Johnson has been arrested after telling police officers that the reason her one-year-old son drowned in a bathtub several months ago is because she was busy playing a game on Facebook and left him to bathe unsupervised.
According to the arrest statement, which you can find here [http://gizmodo.com/5734311/one+year+old-boy-drowns-in-bathtub-as-mother-plays-games-on-facebook], the woman was playing a facebook game called Cafe World, checking her feeds and uploading videos while her son was alone in the bathtub. She checked on him once, over a course of 10 minutes, saying it was justified because she felt "her son was preternaturally independent, and simply wanted to be alone."
At some point she noticed that it was oddly silent from the bathroom, and rushed to check on her son where she found him "lying sideways, with his face submerged." She immediately took him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
She is facing potential charges of child abuse resulting in neglectful death.
This may be an old case, as it happened last year on September 20th, but the woman has only just admitted yesterday that it was due to her being at the computer, that the child was neglected.
