Well... HSe's admitted to neglect. And saying it wasnt intentional wont count as murder, and probably not manslaughter.

So she'll get off with a rather weak sentence if any at all, though I do believe she is guilty and should be punished. The baby is one, how independant can it possibly be?

And of course, the cliche, THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!!!! should be applied here as well.

Chances are, she'll get charged with Criminal Negligence which usually results in some jail time.

I won't defend that she shouldn't have been playing some Facebook game or whatever and look on every 10 minutes (knowing well they can be addictive and her 10/3 minutes may have been 45/15 minutes), but you may notice that it only need a few minutes for an accident to happen and you can't blame anyone for turning their attention to do something else that could have been required (phone for example), or not.

Her worst mistake was not knowing how to do CPR or was that left out of the report. The water was in his lung so he kept drowning on the way to hospital. It's a terrible accident, I don't think it justify the bad parenting title, parents are not to be psychotic big brothers, or neglectful death. It is a regretful accident, my condoleance, she'll pay dearly with her child's death she don't need the government to slap the corpse on her face.

There is bad parenting and this stand far from leaving a UZI in the hand of an 8 years old. [True story. Kid is dead, shot in the face by the recoil. Parents are suing the gun company who sold THEM the weapon.]
Strange, I think I may have heard that story as well, in the case that I heard, some boy scouts went to a gun range and an 8 year old got a hold of an UZI machine gun and shot themselves by mistake. The parents didn't sue as far as I know, it was just an accident that could have been prevented with a watchful eye.

And parents don't have to be the big brother types, but in both cases, a child was placed in a situation where they should be supervised. That's all that was needed to prevent this incident. And I agree with you, CPR should be a standard thing for all expecting parents to learn.

Oh FFS, from a thread about an Autistic teen getting beaten to this. I hate the world sometimes...

A CHILD CAN DROWN IN AS LITTLE AS AN INCH AND A HALF OF WATER, DOUCHEBAG!! Oh look, Amy is on her way to London for a weekend of shenanigans, while your son fucking drowns you stupid *****. People like this should be erased from the gene pool.

Tardy to the party.

No guys, it's clear that the media has something to gain from lying to the public about negligence and baby killing. Pirate Kitty is right, we're just falling into the trap of the government. PUT ON YOUR ALUMINUM HATS.

This is just absurd. I can't believe someone would let their kid die because they had to grow some virtual radishes or flirt with a guy living in Bedfordshire.

The one year old baby somehow put water in the bath itself and drowned, this is highly fucking unlikely, and she would have to be lying, why would she possibly lie?
Not that unlikely, all he had to do was swat at the water dial thing and then the tub would start filling with water.
A one year old though?
I don't know about you but here our taps are kinda stiff and take a little effort to get started.
Besides it'd have to climb in to the tub, presumibly strip and then turn on the taps, as I said possible but still an unlikely series of events, and that still leaves the question of why she's claim to have put it in the bath in the first place.

Why is anyone blaming Facebook anyway? Stupid woman left a baby alone in a bathtub, of course it's dead, she left it to drown. I don't know if death by negligence for children carries the life sentence still, but here's hoping.

ITT: People without children on the Escapist, of all online publications, implying they wouldn't end up doing the same thing, except it was because they were too busy with ME2.

This is like a drunk without a car calling out the other drunk when he gets into a wreck.

But still, Cafe World? C`moooon...
Ahaha, excellent reference man.

I've always thought parents should have lisences to raise kids, maybe that's a bit extreme but we need one to drive vehicles that way over a ton around, I think we should have one to take care of a helpless child. This is one instance I think that may have prevented.

I thought she all ready put the baby in the bathtub.

Well if it was an accident my guess is she put him in there and intended to turn the water on later.

And I don't know how strong a 1 year old is.
Well that's another potential I guess, and as to how strong a one year old is;
Most are only now learning to walk, and they can and will quite hapily drown in about 1 - 2 inches of water.

Even if we assume that she put the baby in an empty bathtub, it would still be considered placing a baby in to a hazadrdous situiation, leaving it alone qualifies(in most jurisdictions) as a crime, criminal neglect to be precise.

Lets hope this does not get facebook some bad publicity (I doubt it will though). Just like with video games, the media finds something to blame except for the person.
