It seems that the show's creator/showrunner, Dan Harmon, has been replaced [http://www.avclub.com/articles/updated-dan-harmon-out-as-showrunner-of-community,75385/]. The guy is an off-the-wall sort of fellow and has done his share to aggravate issues with Chevy Chase [http://www.avclub.com/articles/communitys-dan-harmon-apologizes-for-this-whole-ch,71906/], but he is also much the reason why Community is what it is. Those unpredictable "concept episodes" that have become the show's forté? That's Harmon at work.

So this could be the beginning of the end of Community, I think. But hey, it's somewhat miraculous we've gotten three seasons of it given the terrible ratings (despite raving reviews).

To be honest I never saw the appeal anyway... Community is just one of those shows that I don't only dislike, I just cant see why anyone would like it.

Each to his own though.
You're the worst.

On topic though, it's also been reported that the writer's staff has pretty much jumped ship with him as well. This looks like the end for Community, but worse it looks like the end in a dragged out, lackluster 4th season that'll probably be rushed to broadcast.

We're in the darkest timeline.

The worst what?
You're a pretty terrible lover. At least I feel very unsatisfied right now...
Sorry to put that out in the open. But it's not all about your pleasure, man.

It's a Community reference. It's a little crazy and inaccessible and maybe too dark (that was another Community reference, it might be the only thing I really contribute to this thread, or any thread).

this is what I'm worried about, I'd rather they end off on season 3 where things were still well done before the fourth season where they start shoehorning romance subplots (at least not as interesting ones?) or generic "the dean is gay" moments, the show was clever and for once wasn't presented as a mockumentary.

although I'm going to wait to see what they do with the series, who knows the person they put in charge might actually be better but who knows they might just Britta it.

I'm reminded of the Neil Young reference "it's better to burn out, than to fade away"

Oh well, all good things come to an end.

And personally I thought it came to an end after seaon 2; The first couple of episodes of season 3 were so bad I just quite watching all together.

Nice pull with the "Britta it" reference.

I'm not familiar with the fellow replacing Dan Harmon. Yeah, he may do a good job. So I'll stick with the show at least for a while longer. The guy has worked on a show called Happy Endings, which The AV Club seems to like [http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/tvshow/happy-endings,266/] in some of the review scores. And I trust The AV Club (hence why I've been linking the hell out of them in this thread), so I might watch a bit of that show to see how much hope fans should have for Community's fourth season.

It's not about words. It's about actions.

Personally, I like Happy Endings, and one of their strengths is that the writing and characterization is excellent. The thing is though, it's not Community. Community was Dan Harmon's baby, it's pretty much his brain on screen. Not to mention that they're also losing the Russo brothers and Chris Mckenna, writers who've all been with the show since the beginning and are probably the only ones that could've kept Harmon's vision intact for the 4th season.

I'll hold out hope for season 4 because I think the cast can pull anything off, but I'm not going to be too optimistic.

Yeah, ummmm, next season is going to be the last season of Community regardless of how it goes. It will also be the last season of Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock. NBC is only looking at ratings, and apparently, they aren't good. I'm sure we will see new, much more vapid and pointless shows because those are the ones tat get the ratings.

captcha: have an inkling. So this is how it begins, with a self aware captchas.

Almost nothing succeeds on NBC, though. And I don't think the marketing is that bad. Chuck lasted five seasons (and was able to end on its own terms) despite atrocious ratings. The fanbase was just infamously loyal [http://www.avclub.com/articles/chuck-fans-planning-to-stage-flash-mobs-on-monday,40685/].

Also, Subway [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OViS82tn5hs].

Well a loyal fanbase is why 30 Rock lasted as long as it has. They're going to can those shows in favour of some new shows. I don't think it's a bad thing, though I will miss 30 Rock which I think was better than ever this year.

I really don't understand why they would bring it back at all if they were going to do this. Community, in my opinion, is one of the funniest, most clever shows on television right now. I'll power through this next season, but I am very worried.

Well if Wiki is correct, I recently saw that there is a season 4 but with 13 episodes plan so far. Either way season 3 was bad well no where near good to the last two seasons so I won't be suprise season 4 will be the last season.

One of the things Harmon always mentioned in interviews, and it was why he was always optimistic about being renewed, is that networks are all about getting syndication. If a show's syndicated it's set, but normally if you're gonna try for that, you need at least 100 episodes. That's probably why they're bringing it back at all, so they can get their 100 episodes and sell it into syndication.

Why yes. Yes I am. I appreciate that you might feel differently. Now what?
