Well I haven't yet met a girl who would put sex above any other activity so this really isn't news.

As for these statistics, they are nice and all but way out of context, those facebook games training people to become spam bots are the predominant gaming experience for women, so take the whole thing with a grain of salt... or a truck load.

OT: While Dorito's snacks are definitely tasty (I especially love 'em with that sour cream and chive dip) I really would take any survey they create with a fistful of salt. In fact, I would take the results of any survey with a fistfull of salt really. It isn't as if it pertains to everyone.

I say screw statistics and long live common sense. If statistics showed me anything it's that we live in a either verry depressing or plain dumb world so I wouldn't worry about it. I just relate to what I see and not what some random statistic shows me.

There are multiple sites publishing articles saying that women play video games nearly as much as men (which is awesome) and they enjoy it (more awesomeness). Unfortunately these sites are also saying that women like gaming more than shopping and sex.

Uh, I can sort of see why the sex thing is "unfortunate" but shopping? Who cares if their girlfriend is shopping less?

This is total bull, what was the survey pool? I know very few gamer girls, I've met maybe dozens and the ones I meet aren't really "hardcore" they maybe play a single title or play easy mode or facebook games.

Not that there's anything wrong with being casual I just tend to think that someone who plays games is different to a "Gamer" like someone who watches start trek is different to a "Trekker". Like there are fans and then there are cosplayers

Hardcore gamer girls are few and far between. I've struggled to meet one all my life.

btw my definition of hardcore is someone as nerdy as I am who enjoys gaming as much as I do and plays on default difficulty at least. someone who buys a game every few month minimum, someone who really likes mmos.

The first girl to match my appetite for games will be my wife, and this will never happen because those girls don't have to settle for fat nerds.

Funnily enough I only ever meet the most hardcore of the female gaming community on MMOs, I don't know many girls into shooters, apart from one who plays now and again.

I'm not trying to be derogatory about female gaming culture I know there are plenty of female gamers just not as many as this survey says and the same goes for men, but I do tend to think there are more hardcore gaming males than females, from observation alone.

Bullshit survey.. That's the problem with a quantitative study, those 49% of women gamers (compared to the 50% male gamers) is utter crap. The women 'gamers' probably just said they play games because they play Peggle once every month and the "Learn 2 Fly" on Kongregate.

And excuse me, but that is not really my definition of a "gamer".

Guys, I don't think this is meant to be taken seriously (at least, I hope not). Besides, I think we all know that surveys can be misleading:

Even if it is true, I'm not worried. Just because some women might prefer video games to sex doesn't mean they don't like both activities.

This topic has an idiotic title and idiotic premise. I see nothing wrong or surprising about these results.

I genuinely dislike the way people on these forums make the titles misleading purely to get their mediocre thread noticed.
