your kidding right? the end of wind waker was great. there's a huge long epic scene, then a fight, then another epic scene. and then they made a sequal.

Games are losing their creativity lately, I can name a lot that end great (FF X, Gears 2), but also some that do not. My least favourite would have to be the ending to Final Fantasy I.
You do realize it's a 20 year old game. Not very recent at all!

OP: White Knight Chronicles. I don't like cliffhangers.
Look at the first post on this page, go ahead, I'll wait a few seconds, I know right? Don't you feel retarded.
Nope. But maybe you should think of rewording the original post. I mean, you did say lately. A 20 year old game is not recent. And if you looked through your library and found nothing, then, why would you say lately anyhow? I don't feel retarded; just confused.
It was also remade recently...recently. Done poking holes?
A remake is just that. A remake. It's still a 20 year old game. The ending that it contained was fairly typical for the time it was produced. Just sayin'
And I'm just saying...bawls, yes, I'm done arguing over this. Let's skip off into the sunset now, ok?

Halo 3, ok you stoped the alien invasion of earth, killed the gravemind, and stoped the flood BUT WAIT the main character is still floating around space somwhere... thanks Bungie.
I think people missed the Easter Egg here.

If you watch the Ending on Legendary you see a planet. This is actally the planet from Bungie's first game 'Marathon', Hence tying them into one story. So it wasn't JUST a cheap sell-out (JUst a little bit of a sell-out)

OT: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.

BLAM BLAM!
Blow up Nuke.
BLAM BLAM!
"AHH MITCHELL ARE YOU OKAISSS?!?!?"

END

Tom Clancy you clever/sneaky bastard!

Well, you gotta be wary in a thread called "Video Game Endings".

Anyway, Red Dead Redemption:
Great ending, but the part I didn't like is now I'm freaking Jack Marston instead of John.
Work ya damn nag!
What the f**k does that mean? It annoys me so much!

Anyways, the worst game ending for me was Halo 3: ODST. It ended so suddenly, I literally thought I was half way through the game. You never find out what happens to them!
Nag is another term for horse. When he's on the horse he's just telling it to work harder.

The dark side ending in Kotor 2. It made no goddamn sense.
yeah I know it's like you just ********* and ****** tells you things and then she ******* and the super flying cameraman just zooms out of ********* but I bet the answer will be in Star Wars the old republic

OP:For me it was Mw2 because you just stabbed ********** in the face with a throwing knife and the helicopter guys picks you up and then it basically says THE END which would be ironic if it said that

Im goin to repeat what others have said, and say Bioshock.
Amazing game, amazing setup, and then the ending just kicked me in the nuts.
I mean, that last boss fight... Seriously?
Irrational Games, would you kindly not do that again.

Fable 2, FFX, Far Cry 2 and many many more. There are so many bad endings out there. Also I know it sasy this an endings thread but saying the game name will suffice and if you want to go into details you really should use spoiler tags.
You sly dog, claiming FFX has a bad ending. Good one, now the jokes over and you have to accept that X had an at least decent ending.
No FFX had an awful ending that left it open for a shitty spin off sequel with few redeeming qualities. I might accept it as alright if it didn't spawn that awful game.
It didn't leave it open. They just felt the need to make a sequel.

I think FFX-2 is colouring your view of FFX.
Well I hated the FFX ending before FFX-2 and I also hated the sphere grid system and personally thought the game was overall not the best FF. Also it did leave it open with the fact that the Aeons were gone but the Machina was still around and Tidus was seen did leave it open.
We're all about the ending here. I never found it open at all. Sin was gone, Tidus was gone, Auron was gone and everyone was a whole lot closer together. The ending was magnificent, in my eyes.
Yes and this is why this is pointless it was good in your eyes and gave you closure it gave me none and I found it awful that is my opinion on it. If you think it was good fair enough but I thought it was atrocious which is my opinion on it. I am allowed to have an opinion on it. Doesn't make mine or yours wrong. I can see a sliver of merit in it but that is it. I did not think overall the ending justified the game and was very disappointed in it and thought the scene with Tidus in the ocean was very pointless and left it open because it looked like Bikanel or Besaid.

I appreciate that you liked it and your take on it but I am of the complete opposite opinion.
I can't accept your opinion, mate. I respect that you have one but just...

I'm not seeing how that's open.

Also, about your point earlier. Why do machina matter?
Machina matters because a massive power vacuum is created from the fall of their whole religion basically say that machina is bad yet they find out that that is basically bull. There are a lot of question left as to what actually happens when the religion of whole world that basically dictated their whole being collapses. Which goes back to machina being important basically showing the Al Bhed as being right that it wasn't all that bad in moderation.

Also to go back to the ocean thingy it basically looks like Tidus has been reborn and is left outside Besaid.
I see your point but I think you can fill in the blanks very easily. I still don't get where you're seeing Tidus being reborn, though.
At the very end after the credits if memory serves me right he is seen in a sort feedle position in an ocean and then he swims to the top and looks around to an islands and waves I think. Not to sure about the wave but I definitely remember the rest of it.

I must've played the game through about 3 or 4 times and never remember that part. I might've blocked it out because it's not supposed to be there. After all, there is one ending in FFX-2 where he never did reappear.

If what you've said is true, it could be Tidus' ideal afterlife in the Farplane.

batman: Arkham Asylum's after-credits ending.

It was too predictable, seeing someone return by watching their arm grab a box of Titan.

Thats true but I still remember it being there and I only bring it up because in one ending Yuna finds Tidus by the ocean in FFX-2 other than that I would not bother to bring it up.

Most free-roam games have shitty endings, like all of the GTA games.

Most recently, God of War 3. And the strange thing is that it would've been amazing of only they gave us a proper fight with Zeus and tweaked some of the dialoge at the end. But NOOOOOOO!
Wha? GTA III, VC, SA all had a great ending with a great message: Crime Does Pay, have fun!

I still hold a grudge against GTAIV, since GTA SA demonstrated GTA perfection and they fucked it up so.... so bad.

1) The ending of Perfect Dark 64 wasn't terrible in and of itself but...man I've been waiting for the next game that would continue from where it left off forever. It's a shame that they didn't get that out for the 64 before the Cube came out :(

2) Borderlands. Come on guys, really? The Rakk Nest was harder to beat then the last boss. It was one try and I didn't even dodge! I just stood right in front of it and fired rounds in its face with my caustic shotgun. (Although the Ninja Claptrap was cool, really should have had it kicking up hell on second playthrough)

3) Modern Warfare 2 : "Hey this game is actually pretty fun, even if the rail sections are a little tiresome...I just might recommend this game to my fri- hey....it's over?!?!?!" Actually I had this same issue with Fable 1. Just when I was starting to enjoy it, it was over :(

BEST ENDINGS

1) OoT and Majora's Mask...it was cool to show what happened to everyone. This is best used in MM as the game is really about the people more than the adventure.

2)Mass Effect 2. Holy Hell. I cannot wait for 3.
