The worst ending to a game has to be Super Mario Brothers..

I got to the end, (1-4), and then a friggen Toad appeared! My princess is in another Castle? WHAT?

I just shut the game off and went my way.
Bravo, I would do the same.

KotOR II, neither of the endings really made much of any sense... I mean-

you learn more that a lot of it was cut out, but some of them just felt ridiculous in their omission, I mean- they never showed the HK-50 facility, The 4th master was originally supposed to be alive, then actually be killed by Sion in front of the player
And then at the end-game, when you cant use any party members, its as if Bao-Dur died? The end of the game was just very confusing and suddenly became fast paced to wrap everything up, which didnt really happen either.

Did the player go off to find Revan? or what?

Fable II. THAT was the boss? The guy who killed me at the beginning? And he went down THAT easy?

You might be interested in reading This as it's a 'Let's Play' where the author went through the missing content and wrote it into the story-line. It makes for a pretty good narrative!

Or alternatively play through the game with the Restored Content Mod. Some parts are still a bit fuzzy and the missing planet is still, well, missing. But the overall narrative and ending make so very much more sense. Playing the game with and without this mod is like playing two different games at points!

Regardless, both help Kotor 2's story make much more sense than it did originally. I remember being so disappointed by Kotor 2 when it first came out, whereas now, hell, I actually really like it! God figure!

Destroy all Humans 3...just shit
Star Wars: Republic Commando...cliffhanger with no continuation
i actually liked the Republic Commando ending... well... though it was good/well done at least... i looked at it more as a "morality of war"/"memento mori" situation, but maybe that was just my brain making silly rationalisations... good game though...

Ditto to that, I don't know why they don't continue it (other than on a mobile phone). It is a great game. One of the best and only tolerable shooters to date (the other being Gears)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a game called Throne of Darkness. It was a Diablo clone released by Sierra almost a decade ago, and was built around Japanese mythology. One of the key differences was that rather than control a single character, you control seven different Samurai. The whole thing was pretty cool...and then you got to the ending...

IIRC, once you got to the evil demon warlord or whatever, instead of killing him, you get a cutscene where you see him absorbing your characters' souls and turning them into dark versions of themselves or some such. Cut to black, credits roll, the end. My girlfriend and I saw that, and to this day that is the only time we actually booed at a game ending!

Yeah, ostensibly it was all supposed to lead into multiplayer or something, but still, "BOOOOOOOO!"

Half-Life 2. Anti-climatic with zero closure. One of the worst 'buy our next game' endings I've seen.

Wow. I absolutely loved the ending to Fable 2. It was so anticlimactic, it was almost beautiful.

OT: Definitely seconding Diablo II and StarCraft: BW up there. I was 12 when I beat those games. 12! I'm in college now Blizzard! And I'm just a young'un.

And another second on PsiOps: Mindgate Conspiracy. A brilliant game with brilliant gameplay (and a story so laughably bad that it's just as brilliant), BUT NO DAMN SEQUEL. To Be Continued (IN HELL).

Far Cry 2, as well. Weeeeeeee suicide, for some reason. Fricken The End.

Was I the only person who played Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 all the way through or something? Because that was the lamest, whiniest, enthusiasm deflating-est final monologue from a bad guy EVER.

Deus Ex. You either kill a demigod, become a god, or act behind the scenes as a god. System Shock 2 rates up there as well.

I saw Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts' ending on YouTube and thought it was terrible. They didn't even state a sequel like in the first and second game. All around that game was disappointing compared to the first two.

Also, SW Force Unleashed was mushy crap.
*grumble* am i the only one that liked the story in SW: FU?
I enjoyed it up to that final mission with the ridiculous cutscene at the start...

Plus I was angry I didn't find the black lightsaber crystal.

That is pretty much how I felt at the end of it as well.

[HEADING=1]THE END![/HEADING]
Infinty Ward really needs to do something with its villains. They pulled the same shit in COD 4. After capturing Al-Asad, a man who has ordered the execution of hundreds of innocents, shot the president in the face on live TV and nuked an entire city killing of your protagonist and presumably his whole army, it's revealed he isn't the main villain. The main villain is a dirty bald hobo who we're supposed to hate despite the fact that the only time we see him before the end, we're blowing his arm off and causing his son to commit suicide.
I think it is assumed that Al-Asad died in the bomb blast with the intention of taking the entirety of the city with him. So his little plot was resolved is what I'm saying :p
I may have misunderstood you here but he didn't. He was in another country, the SAS got him.
