I can bake. I don't do it that often, but I'm decent at it - Although, not when it comes to cakes. Just bread. Mmm, freshly baked bread.

My favorite recipe is a potatoe/ham/cheese bread. Mashed potatoes, ham, and cheese is added to the dough (Which is almost like a normal dough, just a bit less flour). Served warm, with a bit of butter. Perfect as a side dish.

I bake all of my own bread, about 4 loaves a week. It's a million times better than anything on a shelf, and you get the satisfaction of creating something. A really really simple recipe for two loaves can be found here.

Baking is stress relieving for me, and it reminds me of Mom.

I bake, I've tried all sorts, but I always wind up falling right back into biscuits, I can't help myself, I love biscuits.

My particular forté is Shortbread.

True it's just butter, flour and caster sugar... But even so, my shortbread makes Angels stream tears of joy...

the only thing that beats it is whipped shortbread, and even then that's just subbing Caster sugar for icing sugar...

Might make some of my shortbread for Christmas...

Heck yeah I'm a rather good baker/cook, as long as I have a cook-book or something similar to guide me through the process! I'm an expert at doing stuff I'm told to do! xD

... though I don't do it that often though, because it takes so much time...

I'll give the OP credit for the cinnamon roll thing, because i honestly suck at making cinnamon rolls.

But my families sugar cookie recipe has been known to cause Type 2 diabetes in two servings.
and we are damn proud of it.

I am also quite good out of creating recipes out of thin air, i call the phenomenon Fostonoppulus.
Last time it happened, it resulted in chocolate cornbread with strawberry and banana cream in the middle, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and garnished with a cherry and a sprig of mint.

I do lots of baking. If you can't bake, I have a no fail recipe for you. I boxed cake mix, 1 20oz can of pie filling and two eggs. Mix them in a bowl, turn out into a greased cake pain. Bake at 350° for 30-35 mins.. Take out, let cool. Moistest, most delicious cake you will ever eat. You would barely know there was fruit in it unless you ran into a piece in the cake. Delicious, to boot. Keeps next to forever.

My favorite thing to bake is cream cheese spritz cookies. And that is a much more involved recipe.

Give me a cookbook with recipes, I could do it well.

I want to learn how to do it better, though. Making treats wins you a lot of friends.

I am somewhat adept at baking. The most advanced baked good I have tried (and succeeded) are probably berliners.
Although mine are made with homemade raspberry jam. Delicious indeed.

I've baked before but never on my own. My hyperactive blame always stops me from doing such things - however I do help out cooking with the family and preparing ingredients a fair bit nowadays. The last thing I helped make was a chocolate cheese cake, but that isn't so much baking.

I need to get my ass bakin'

I cannot cook.

Seriously.

I manage to make hardboiled eggs for breakfast and every so often i end up blowing them up by forgetting them, and just hearing a loud POP when the water ran out and the insides overcooked.

Baking is science for hungry people. And if you do it right, deliciousness happens. I make a mean sfogliatelle but that's not very Christmas-ish. Every Christmas morning, I make orange glazed sweet rolls. It's a tradition. I'm told they're absolutely fabulous.

So, I'm currently in the middle of crafting the most thoroughly bitchin' cinnamon rolls in existence (I know, because I made them last year, and they kicked ass). I'm in the "wait for the dough to rise" phase. They are shaping up to be my new favorite part of Christmas morning, if they wind up as good as last time.

But that's enough about me. The point of this thread is to ask the question in the title: Do you bake? How often? What is your favorite baked good, either to make or to eat?

At its core, this thread is about things that are baked, and the people who bake them. Discuss.

Edit: So, my cinnamon rolls didn't rise. Apparently, I killed the yeast. I admit, I'm not actually that good a baker. But dammit, I am not about to let a bunch of pansy-ass fungus end my quest for awesome breakfast tomorrow! I will prevail! Manly Bakers don't give up.
Somehow, this post inspires me with an intense murder frenzy.

I'm a bit too young to be cooking for my entire family, so I learn and help out wherever I can, I usually end up helping my grandma cook stuff because I find it very fun and enjoyable :D

I'm not going to post the Wikipedia link that proves you wrong here. Instead, I'm going to ask what you think yeast is, if not a fungus. You must be fairly certain, to feel that it's necessary to tell me I'm mistaken.

Um... I'm sorry, I guess?

Like, murdering me, or murdering criminals Boondock Saints-style? I would advise against both, but I won't do anything to stop you if you mean the latter.

Nope, you were right. I was mistaken. Don't get a big head though as me being wrong does happen from time to time.

Anyhow, good luck on your cinnamon rolls hope they turn out this time.
