Band Recommendations Female singers

Well, if you like Symphonic Metal, then all my favorite bands.

Nightwish.
Epica.
Krypteria.
Within Temptation.

All really great symphonic metal with female lead singers.

All epic choices, and points to you sir for even mentioning Krypteria.

Also check out Arch Enemy. Much different from the above bands, but fantastic nonetheless.

Leaves Eyes is solid.

Late opinion, seeing as Nightwish was listed a good half-million times: You're probably going to want to shoot for Nightwish when they actually had Tarja in the lineup if you want more symphonic metal.
With their new singer, they drifted into some weird pop/metal bullshit.

EDIT: The Distillers are also female-fronted, but they disbanded a few years ago, if I'm remembering correctly.
Also, The Decemberists aren't really female-fronted; Yes, there is a female vocalist, but at best she performs backup vocals, and just has the occasional song at the forefront.

Based on the bands you've posted, you seem to be into indie music. I bet you would love The New Pornographers. They have three lead singers and two of them are male, but the female one (Neko Case) is amazing. Alternately, you might also like Neko Case's solo stuff.

Within temptation and Evenessence are the only ones I can think of. There's also nightwish, but I haven't personally listened to alot of their stuff, so I don't really have an opinion about them.
