I'm talking about those bands that you can't talk about with other people because they don't know them. Keep in mind that I'm referring to real life conversations, not internet conversations.

One band that I have a hard time finding fans for is Radio Moscow. Not a lot of people in my area seem to know them, but they're awesome. A great mix of blues and psychedelic rock. Modern too, I might add.

Got bands like this?

I'm a fan of Sabaton, but no one I've met in real life has ever heard of them. They're virtually unknown in the US.

S.L.O.T., a russian "NuMetal" band.

Anyone who's into Half-Life 1 mods knows them from PARANOIA.

Here's a taste:

Thanks to my line of work I could name thousands of bands here that nobody has heard of... but I'd rather keep it that way. There's a good reason why people haven't heard of a lot of music - because a lot of it's not really worth hearing about.

Well there's some things that I think are good that I think people should listen to, but whether they agree or not is another thing. I'm not really interested in "converting" anyone to my personal musical taste. In my experience that's impossible anyway. If people want to keep listening to their Tool or whatever, then you know... whatevs.

I've always loved a band called Counting Crows, though every time I mention them I receive blank and confused stares.

What's wrong with you? ALL music is worth hearing about, just not by everyone.

OT: Fans of folk metal should definitely hear these guys:

Huzzah! Another reason to post a Closure In Moscow and Vangough song! And I'll throw in some Polkadot Cadaver for the hell of it.
Three of my favorite bands ever, and they both need much more exposure.

I could list hundreds more (not exaggerating), but I'll leave it at these three.

EDIT: Going to throw some Emilie Autumn in here too.

Trust me, there is plenty of music that should never be heard by anybody. Be thankful that there are people like me out there who are able to vet such stuff out of public channels before it gets to your ears.

I don't really know of any current bands that people don't know of but there are forgotten bands. That got big quick and fizzled out. Honestly i think they could have been big I just don't see why it didn't happen. Anyways they all break up shuffle up the band and it just doesn't feel the same. And they always do reunions every so many years because there are people out their that like them just not enough.

Didn't they make a song about a parking lot or something. I liked them.
OT: My acquaintances don't seem to have heard of Modest Mouse.
^I know that is probably grammatically butchered, but ATM I CBA to fix it. Sorry.
