No, I'm calling your statement that a genre can be dedicated to being non-conventional is bs. I thought I was pretty clear about that.
How else can i describe Progressive Rock to you?
Ooh, I can answer that!
I think you quoted the wrong guy somehow...I never posted that

This should be interesting.

My choice is going to have to be...Nickelback. They're the definition of generic rock, I'll grant you, but I still think the hate against them is borderline absurd. Plus, god save me, I do love "Into the Night" and "If Today Was Your Last Day"
Oh no I didn't know my hypocrisy would be revealed so quickly but I absolutely hate Nickelback! It's mostly because they're music is so boring and they are completely corporate. I think I have valid reasons.

Hmm, let me think for a while.

Okay, burn me at the stake if you like but I think Dragonforce get some undeserved hate. Yes, they're "not a real metal band" (whatever that means) and yes, they might sound a little tame compared to other metal bands; but throwing aside the elitism for a moment, I think they're actually a lot of fun to listen to. Their arrangements are unique and interesting, they have some interesting solo sections, the lyrics are cheesy but inventive and "Through The Fire And The Flames" is one of my favourite songs ever to play through on Guitar Hero.

Ironically, some of the people who hate Dragonforce love Dethklok (who I also quite enjoy) even though Dethklok are a parody of a metal band.

Linkin Park as a fan the amount of shit I get personally and the amount of people who insult them for no reason is baffling.
Their a very bland band. :D
I really hope you get run over by a truck.
:D why?

I bet you're another one of those people who has heard maybe 10% of their music and assumes every other song is the same. Oh and you said Slipknot were similar to LP so clearly you don't actually have ears. Oh and Metallica...good musicians trololololololololol, I nearly fell off my chair laughing.

Edit: Oh and you spell it they're as in they are.

avenged sevenfold, they get alot of hate because "they arent hardcore anymore" but i think they are great musicians because they seem to make better music every album, and by better i dont mean better to head bang to, or better to piss off parents and neighbours, thats not necessarily what music is about. sure its fun to listen to sometimes but its not really great music.
oh and by the way i have all their albums and love every single one.

i was thinking of defending my chemical romance, but with their new single i say fire away lol.

The most correct answer is DragonForce. They are gods. Hating something for being amazing is possibly the most pointless form of hate.
My hate for Dragonforce comes from them being a damn studio band. Herman Li and Sam Totman have improved since the older days, but they still can't play all of what they've recorded, and being a guitar player, it really bothers me that they do that. As much as I'd like to record some of the things I've written, I can't play all of it at my current low as hell skill level, so it's gonna sit there until I can. That being said, I do like their music, I just think they should be able to play their own songs live in their entirety.
If you do actually like their music, you should check out their new, live album "Twilight Dementia." It's two discs of theirs and fans' favorites performed live with no overdubbing of any parts, and they play it all very well. I think most of the "bad live show" reputation comes from terrible fan recordings from cell phones, their overzealous onstage antics, and Sam's drinking. They fixed all those things to record a live album that sounds damn good.

Between the Buried and Me gets a lot of hate just because they're one of the more popular Metalcore/Prog Metal bands.

I'm kind of an elitist when it comes to music and I have a tendency to reject most things that I consider to be "generic" or "mainstream." Bands like Nickelback, Slipknot(people=shit, guise), and Linkin Park lack credibility, in my opinion.

Linkin Park, whenever they make any modification to their style the fandom gets their nickers in a twist.

I would have to say Justin Bieber. And most other pop stars.
If you don't want to listen to them, then don't. Don't hate.

All bands get pointless hate. Pointless hatred is in everything and in everyone. It's that sense that there is something we don't like and there is nothing we can do to change it so they pointlessly hate on it just to allay this irrational fear. It's quite infuriating honestly.

Their fandom are fans because they like the music they make, if they go and make different music they may as well just tell the fans to fuck off.

I think I'd have to go with every single band that starts off small for ages, and then makes it big. They get waves of bile and are branded 'sellouts' like they're supposed to feel bad for being successful.
Examples: Fall Out Boy, Lostprophets, Escape The Fate.
Like the music, or don't like the music. But don't hate just because the band actually made it.
