Overkill.
It's the best damn thrash band out there and they never fail to deliver. Metallica got all the fame since they managed to press out their album faster(let the flame wars begin ;P), but Overkill deserves it.
Check them out if you like thrash metal. You won't be disapointed.

While we're on thrash metal I might as well bring up Tankard. German "beer metal" in it's finest forms. They're well known, but not enough!

Linkin Park deserves more acclaim. Also, most country bands deserve to be more well known because they suffer for their genre. Rascal Flatts comes to mind as a great example of this.

Linkin Park, seriously? I thought every second schoolboy was a Linkin Park fan, especially back in the day. They do get a bit of hate on this site, but I doubt people on here represent the general population.

They're almost unknown where I live. Almost nobody listens to them.

Where to begin?

House of Heroes is probably one of the best indie-ish bands out there right now but they don't seem to have the exposure that they truly deserve.

Wow...just wow. No one can beat the lyrical power of the Aaron Wiess's rants. They've undergone a sound transformation over the years, warping from hard rock to folk. And it's fine with me.

Remember these guys. You'll know them soon enough. Bands this good don't stay hidden for long.

I have more, but I need to go to class.

As for the other two, tbh my immediate impression of them was "angsty and generic" like a lot of those nu-metal or post-grunge bands. They look like the kind of bands that get signed at the peak of the popularity of their genre to milk the dollar of all the "alternative" kids. They're not really bad or anything, just not particularly special?
Yeah I can see where your coming from, but I remember 16Volt from the Primal videogame years ago and I thought they were fan-fucking-tastic, the sounds seemed so alien to me and the song At The End was so haunting when I first heard it. Same with Adema heard in a game liked the songs, bought their first albumn which was a good piece of metalwork, then over the years they did seem to become more generic. But hopefully with the origional lineup back together that will end.

Half Man Half Biscuit, you might have to be British to understand them but they give some amazing social satire

Alter Bridge. They're a great band, but it just feels like they don't get the attention they deserve, especially with three of the members being in Creed.

Cage the Elephant, Theory of a Deadman, Jet Black Stare
All of which are 100% unheard of here in the holy land

The Black Angels. Most people think its hippie trash, and sometimes I get an "Isn't that from the fable 3 trailer?"

Still one of my favorite bands.

Avenged Sevenfold. Seriously. They are awesome, but I have yet to meet another person IRL that haven't thought they were crap.

Now I'm a total metalhead, but I think Amon Amarth is an incredibly talented band. Swedish Viking Melodic Death Metal anyone?
