Linkin Park - they were my first metal band and through them I got into real metal and rock and I still kinda like their older albums.
Nightwish - I just dont like their songs that much any more and I got sick of that Annette vs Tarja thing.
Ah yes. I still like Nightwish and maybe the next album will be a lot better than Pendulum now that Annette has had time to 'settle' in, but I agree, Once was the band's best album for me.

When I was a teenager I listened to too many terrible things to mention.

I guess the worst was Trivium.
*shudders*

I'm less ashamed of the fact that I liked linkin park.
In fact I still kind of like them in a catchy cheesy pop song way.

Linkin Park, Greenday, MCR, System of a Down, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, The Hoosiers, many, many indie bands.

Not necessarily because of changes in their musical styles, just because in each case one day I started listening to them and realised I no longer enjoyed their stuff. My music taste changes at least twice a month though...

Nile and Arch Enemy. Such pathetic excuses for extremely mediocre metal. 'Oh they're metal and sound heavy' was pretty much the only argument I had for listening to them. Then I developed taste and actually started caring about a little more than how 'badass' it made me look when I told people I listened to crap like that.
Nile is good though.

technicality for the sake of being technical does not equal good songwriting or good musicianship or even being generally 'good', so that statement is false.

Ninja'd by the first and third posts! Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance!

On the flipside, I used to hate The Used, but it was just because they looked like MCR. Then I heard "The Bird and the Worm" and the rest is history.

I thought Kings of Leon were fantastic. Their first couple of albums were brilliant...

Then they all got haircuts and released the ear rape that is Sex on Fire.

Weezer... god dammit WHAT HAPPENED!!?? That Hurley... thing was awful, and why did they even release "Death to false metal"!? its song that they cut because they weren't good! It makes no sense! Exclamation point!

They used to be so amazing... Maybe in a year they can go back to making good music.

Radiohead. Used to love their depressing music when I was depressed. Now I no longer listen to them now that I'm not.

And whilst I still listen to them occasionally, Blur doesn't do it for me half as much as it used to.

Hoobastank, which I lost interest in after they released the song "Inside of You", don't remember why but that was when I stopped listening to them.

Mortiis. I still love his old work and respect that he felt like chaning style, but the newest record really isn't any good.

For the record, Mortiis used to make long, sombre pieces of dark, medieval ambient music which is, in my book, some of the most evocative music ever made. Then he changed style into more uptempo, industrial-inspired rock, and the first record made in that style was actually really good. However, on the latest record almost all the magic that made his music great was sacrificed in favour of a, to my mind, uninspired, wannabe industrial sound.

I still respect the man and understand that he had to change style, but I just wish that it was executed more elegantly.

Greenday...Same story as always here: used to like their old stuff and couldn't bring myself to purchase 21st Century Breakdown. Because it's shit. I didn't mind American Idiot so much...it had a few good songs. I guess the same goes for Muse too.

Come to think of it...there are quite a few of pop-punk bands that I grew up listening to that I really dislike now (Sugarcult, Reel Big Fish are 2 main ones)...probably because my musical tastes want something much heavier now.

Also, I liked Linkin Park in year 7 and 8 but grew out of them very quickly.

I suppose a good example of a band that I didn't used to like would be Alexisonfire... I bought their debut album when I was in school solely for the fact that I found their song names funny...to my dismay, I hated the screamy vocals (although the music itself was pretty cool) and so that album went in a drawer for a couple of years. After getting into college, I went back to the album as I found my musical tastes were getting heavier and to my surprise I started to thoroughly enjoy George Pettit's screachy vocals. They're probably one of the first "screamy" bands that I ever got into..So I guess I have them to thank for my taste in music now???

EDIT: Ccome to think of it...Maybe it was Glassjaw's album "Everything you ever wanted to know silence" I'm thinking of, not Alexisonfire...? I don't remember now = /

I used to have....terrible taste in music. Bands I used to like include Green Day and, I feel sick even thinking about it, Fallout Boy.
