From the New York Times and DC: http://cot.ag/faxwys. Does anyone else think that Anne Hathaway is going to ruin the film?

Sweet! After hearing Tom Hardy might be playing Hugo Strange I was disappointed that he would'nt be bane so now I'm excited! He'll be fantastic mark my words!

And Anne Hathaway's casting is suprising but she's a good actress, If Nolan thinks she's got the chops he could hav picked a winner...

Provided the portrayal of catwoman is better than the Catwoman movie, I don't much mind who is playing it...

Wayne Rooney would have made a better catwoman with a good script compared to Halley Berry in the other one.

A. I've been hoping to see Bane redone for a long time after the atrocity that was "Batman and Robin"

B. The thought of Anne Hathaway in a catsuit is going to make a lot of nerds VERY happy. And I cannot in good conscience say "present company excluded" to that statement...

Ok... not villain's I was hoping for but Tom Hardy is awesome, hopefully he will be a good steroid pushing muscle bound super freak. Anne Hathaway as Catwoman... may need a cold shower after seeing the film...

I don't really see Hardy being a good Bane, but Hathaway's casting sounds good.

I heard a rumour Naomi Watts would be in this. If that happens, I would be even more happy. :)

Well according to Empire* Warner Brothers haven't actually mentioned Catwoman, they've just said that Hathaway will play Selina Kyle. So there's hope for you all yet that we don't actually see her in the suit. Why you wouldn't want to see her in a tight leather suit is a mystery, but oh well. Actually it's not a mystery, I've seen the Catwoman film. It's terrible.

As for Tom Hardy as Bane...I'm not so sure. Granted the only impression of Bane I have is from Arkham Asylum, but of all the things I've seen Hardy in (which is more than just Inception) I've got the impression that he's a fantastic character actor. Casting an awesome actor in the role of a steroid educed super-monster is a little odd - just look at Edward Norton as The Hulk. I'd much rather liked to have seen Hardy as a criminal mastermind - i.e. The Riddler.

But hey, I can't knock Nolan's decisions because he's a fricking genuis. I'll wait at least until I've seen a trailer before I pass judgement on the roles.

To people questioning Hardy as Bane...there's no way of knowing exactly that the Bane of this film will be a muscle-headed moron. Muscle-bound, obviously. Bane needs to be muscle-covered. But he doesn't necessarily have to be a walking blunt instrument.

At this point in time, after him being responsible for some of my favourite films, I really do trust him when it comes to casting.

What's wrong with Anne Hathaway? She's a good actress. Besides, as far as I'm concerned, Nolan has never made what could be considered a bad movie, so I have high hopes for this no matter WHO'S in it.

HOORAY! Catwoman and Bane! So Black Mask may not be showing up at all but at least Bane is getting a second change. As for Catwoman, I'm not really too sure about Anne Hathaway but I'm sure she can get it right. Of course I havn't seen Alice in Wonderland, nor do I really intend to. But this sounds like the final Nolan Batman movie will at least be a good one. I'm no longer skeptical about it, I look forward to it! :) But leave it at only two major villians, Chris. We don't want another Spider-Man 3 here.

I'm actually surprised he picked bane. I mean all the other villains he picked were realistically grounded, like the joker being a psychotic terrorist and ras al ghul being a fanatic, but bane always struck me as a bit cartoony for Nolan's tastes. Now I really want to see what he does with the character.

Bane? Really? I'm not sure how that's going to fit into the realistic and gritty batman films but hey, we'll see. I still say Batman Begins was the superior film. I like the more comic book feel it had.
