In this case, they appear to be justified.

There is a very large likelihood of a crime being committed as a driect result of the words of these people.
And who determines this? Where is the proof? Speaking your mind can be judged acceptable based on the likelihood of a crime being committed as a result?

What consititues decent oversight? I believe the Soviets had "decent" oversight with the NKVD at one time.
The reasons and evidence available to any member of the public who asks, even the offender.

I don't see why this is an issue. If you actually READ the article they ban people individually, not groups of people. So 22 confirmed social nut jobs aren't allowed in? Who cares, the US has a watch list as well, so does Canada, so does almost every country.

we should kick out people who bring new cultures to England, they ruin our politically incorrect jokes, which is a pair of words which have never been used before...they... showed up.

It is...now. Things like this always go too far eventually. It always starts small. How long before it goes from letting people in to throwing people out to getting rid of people altogether?

I read the list and laughed my balls off. I couldn't even begin typing until I re-attached them. In summary:
GTFO and STAY OUT!
Every single person on that list is a nightmare. Seems they didn't just hammer on Muslims (there's a Jewish militant on the list,) but rather said if you are a violent enough freak you don't belong here.

The Westoboro Baptists are horrible people but they've never, as far as I know, attacked anyone physically. All they do is rant and spout nonsense. They are noisy and irritating but generally harmless. So why ban them?
I understand where you're coming from with the rest of your post. Two things:
1) You can still listen to these people, just not in person.
2) Fred Phelps loves to show up at things like funerals. As if the people there aren't already dealing with enough grief he comes along to create as much more as he possibly can without getting arrested. I wouldn't call that harmless. Furthermore he apparently had plans to show up in the UK to stage protests until this happened.

We dont have freedom of speech. There is no constitution on the UK protecting freedom of speech. Our laws are based on being able to do anything as long as the government doesn't say it is not allowed.

The UK has just proved themselves the most dickhead first world country in the world. This sounds a few steps off the USSR or Nazi Germany.
It's almost like a way of life for our politicians or something.

On topic; I'm all for freedom of speech, as long as that doesn't harm other people. As we can learn from history, both ends of the extreme political spectrum can be a very bad thing for a country. As much as this seems like a move against freedom of speech, I think it's justified.

I'd ban chavs from Britain. It wouldn't leave a lot of people, but at least things would be much more pleasant.

If anyone comes to the country to preach hate then they shouldn't be allowed in. Simple.

About the "privilege" part: what about the Gurkha's, surely fighting and dying for our country for decades grants them the privilege? Especially when every other foreigner came come in by saying "asylum"; to me that seem wrong. Don't get me wrong though, I have no objection to people seeking asylum in this country, but when people who fight along side us in our army aren't allowed in it seems completely unfair.

You can laugh but we've had democracy longer than you've had a country.

Your constitution didnt seem worth the paper its written on when you were imprisoning Americans of Japanese decent during WWII or when you went through your anti commi period with McCarthyism. Are you aware that Iraq has a constitution under Sadam? Constitutions dont equal freedom.

Im surprized Geert Wilders isnt on that list. He was sent back at the airport because they feared a muslim riot over his presence.

Your very outspoken about this aren't you? Can I ask you a question?

Do you feel the same way about the people banned from entering your country?
