Another reason to hate him.

*adds it to very long list*

I wonder if Obama realizes there's a very large difference between what he wants and what the people want.

I hate our country for electing him... and Bush... and Clinton... and everyone else except Reagen.

It's a good thing you live in the UK. Saying that about the President here in the US would result in wiretapping, e-mail interceptions, and a knock at the door from some not-so-friendly men in black siuts.

First Amendment my ass!

I could not agree more! I would also like to nominate you as warchief when Obama is gone.
I accept the nomination of WarChief.

My manifesto as WarChief is thus
* all campers will be killed
* more funding towards nice XboxLive etiquette, be nice to others on a game and you will be rewarded
* 28th March to be declared an International holiday were we burn an effigy of Bobby Kotick and Michael Parckinson out of principle and shits and giggles (that aussie dirtbag)
* Subsidized gaming purchases for all
* Any nations we don't like will change their national anthems to Navi's "Hey Hey Listen!", that'll teach those fuckers that wont toe the line
* I will triple the funding for Scientist researching real world application of the "Double Jump", NO COOKIE JAR WILL BE TOO HIGH FOR ANY GAMER!

ARE YOU WITH ME PEOPLE?
Death to the campers!

And Democrats are any different? Politicians lie, and it doesn't matter what side of the spectrum they choose to call home. The Dems are spending like mad, have enacted healthcare reform that is projected to cost FAR more than they claimed it would and have driven healthcare costs up for the time being, have given bailouts to banks and financial firms that have mis-used them (HUGE bonuses to board members and CEOs, private jets, etc.), and are clearly inept in their handling of economic policy (no attention being paid to jobs at home).
Politics: Many sides of a monohedron.
What does politics have to do with a boat hull?

Although I understand that you are referring to a one-sided, two-dimensional figure. XD

Under my leadership Dedicated Servers would be a lawful requirement!

Any deviation from Dedicated servers would be punishable by making the Devs play there own broken games against cheaters followed by a session of big rigs.

Sadly, I still think I'll probably be forced to vote for him in 2012, because the Republicans will probably try riding this tea-bagger nonsense for that long.

My only hope for this country right now is that if the parties both keep up this level of incompetence that's bad even for politicians, maybe by 2016 things will be so bad that a charismatic third party candidate might actually have a real shot.

Probably not, but a man can dream, right?

As we know, he didn't write that speech. I don't doubt he doesn't know squat about new technologies, but this from the same guy who posts his White House addresses on YouTube?
I for one am surprised he didn't launch on the "internet ready" televisions that are available. This might sound a bit stupid, but do we really need all this constant access to the internet these days? Bad enough you can order pizza through the internet, but I don't think we need to consider the possibilities of 3D Twitter, do we?

I'm tired of every (95%) politician deciding that it's OK to attack video games, many without reason. I'm just sick of there being no backlash.

The ENTIRE QUOTE was:

"With iPods and iPads; Xboxes and PlayStations -- none of which I know how to work -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation."

Gaming isn't even the topic, it's being overloaded with irrelevant info distracting people. The way some people on this thread are acting you would think he had gone full Jack Thompson.

Yeah because Obama is so 'hip' and 'cool' that he has to be totally insync with gaming culture and can never say anything bad about it. ¬¬

Just because he is black, doesn't make him much different from other politions

I see what he is trying to get at. I think he just worded it a little wrong. I still respect him as President.

Gee, thats news that adults that have children think distractions are bad for their education.
Yet, try to pull a adult away from a TV set and watch them squeal. Seriously do it!

I voted for him as lesser of two evils (contrast Sarah Palin being a heartbeat away from the Presidency).

Not gonna make that mistake again. I'll either vote Republican or stay home in 2012.
Yeah, you get such hard decisions over there. We get to vote, but we don't have to think because it doesn't matter- GLORIOUS LEADER GORDON BROWN is still in number 10.

Not that I give a shit about London. It's down south and is thus not important.
Heh. Guess this will make your day then: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8672859.stm

Besides, there's still no parliament. Considering the Libs are asking for talks with Labour, then the Conservatives must not be giving them everything they want.

Heh, I learned of this not a minute ago. yay news homepage. But yes, it pleases me that OUR GLORIOUS LEADER is finally fucking off.

How is he being hypocritical? He's pointing out that games can be a distraction. Which is true.
Just because its critical doesn't mean he's wrong. Are gamers so precious that anything even middy concerning about gaming habits is immediately dismissed regardless of its validity?
In a word YES! What would we do with ourselves without this grand conspiracy against gamers or gaming or whatever it is against?
