Lower Canada near Lake Ontario so,

Bibarel, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Sentret, Snubull, Buneary, Ekans, Swinub in the winter, Squirtle (near the lake), Nidoran, Oddish, Meowth/Persian (I have a cat), Taillow, Farfetch'd, Sneasel in the winter...

Which would I use?

Persian for petting evilly (Probably my "signature" pokemon)
Squirtle for surfing and such
Nidoran male for general awesomeness
Pidgey for flying
Sneasel

Well, I live in northwest arizona, so the environment alternates between wasteland and forest roughly every 100 feet.
The skies would be host to the pidove line as well as some spearows and the archen line.
In the dirt would be some sandshrew, drilber and a crapload of ekans.
There would be houndour and poochyena and Persian
Eevee would fit in because it pretty much fills the niche that rabbits do, there would also be deerling and emolga.
There would also be the occasional luxio.

You know, upon seeing what the pokemon equivalent of the nearby wildlife would be, I've come to a conclusion about where I live.

There are a shitload of predators here.

And that's not even counting the domestic animals.

Suburbs, in Australia. Probably have plenty of pidgey, skitty, poochyena- a good number of those weak, fast levelling normals you can find at the beginning.

And I'd catch-em-all.

Interesting question.

I'm Canadian, so I would go with:
Empoleon
Walrein
Aggron
Beartic
Lanturn (for the Hydroelectricity...it's a pun)
...and Bibarel I guess. Grudgingly.

Makes for a water/ice heavy team, but a patriotic one.

Hmmm, since I live in Alberta (western Canada) I would say:

Castform - The region I live in has the most random weather in the world
Tauros - Cuz of the plains of course
Muk - Alberta's economy is driven by oil, and Muk would be the mascot of the Edmonton Oilers (hockey)
Aerodactyl - Referencing the many fossils found in Alberta and the Royal Tyrrell Museum
Glaceon - Our winters suck... a lot...
Rapidash - The logo of the Calgary Flames is a flaming C or a horse with fire shooting out of it's nostrils

Any Albertans here (or Canadians) think that is an accurate description? I limited it to 6 cuz listing every pokemon that would exist in Alberta is much more work than I am willing to do.

I live in/near pittsburgh, so we have a lot of urban/suburban area, but I know of some farmland near Jeannette, so I would say field/urban pokemon with a sprinking of bears, deer, and other such pokemon.

Canadian here, born and raised.

So probably:
Bibarel
Beartic
Mightyena (We've had a coyote problem recently)
Sawsbuck
Braviary
Bouffalant

Of course that's just a generalization of the country as a whole, Where I live would probably be:

Bidoof
Bidoof
Bidoof
Bidoof
Bidoof
and Linoone.
I wanna say somewhere in Saskatchewan...

I live in Vancouver, so there's a pretty wide variety of habitats around here, but mostly water, forests, mountains, and cities, (not to mention we have a few fossil deposits in B.C, so fossil pokemon aren't out of the question.)
There would probably be water, grass, bug, flying, rock, poison, electric, normal, steel (maybe,) ice types in the winter, and maybe the odd fire or ground type if you go a little further inland in the summer.

From this, I can conclude that my mons would probably be Magneton, Roselia, Seadra, Glaceon, Quilava, and Anorith.

Also, out of curiosity, what would be the natural environment for psychic, fighting, dark, and dragon types?

Based solely on grade 9/10 geography classes, that seems quite accurate.

I live in Saskatchewan. It gets cold in winter and we have a ton of snow. In summer there is a ton of space to run around in the fields. Arcanine runs fast, keeps you warm and is just a pal. I choose him!
I was going to /spoiler/ that picture to save on thread space, but I can't minimize such an epic picture of an epic pokemon :D
I had no idea you lived in Saskatchewan! Probably because I've never asked... but still, that is cool for some reason :D

I made my list based on the most noticeable features of Alberta, not on how I'd like to deal with them. If I did make my list of how I'd like to deal with them, half of my party would be fire types and the other half flying types. Maybe throw in a ground type so I can retreat underground when winter comes...

Excellent question, I was hoping someone would ask.

Most dark types resemble existing animals, so I don't think that one needs much explaination.

For fighting types, they tend to show up in mountains, similar to rock types. Probably there to train.

Psychic types are kinda oddballs in this regard, since alot of them don't resemble animals at all, and look humanlike. I'd image they probably live close to humans, so I'd go with big cities.

For dragon pokemon, that depends on the pokemon itself. Dratini is found in lakes, but tougher ones like Bagon, Deino, and Axew are found in caves.

For Vancouver, you'd pretty much have 80% water types, 10% bug types, 5% normal types, 2% rock, 2% ground, 1% rioting type (lol, I kid)

Elemental types are easy to choose because geography = elemental type. The non-elemental types are a bit tricky.
Psychic: I wanna say France or somewhere in eastern Europe where there are lots of fortune tellers.
Fighting: Could technically be anywhere, I'd say there would be a lot in Japan because of the many martial arts. China would have many fighting types as well.
Dark: Africa! Lol, jk jk. Hmm... I really can't say =/
Dragon: Europe or China. There are no mythological dragons in North America, so they'd all be in Europe or China/Japan.
