"...the aliens will neither land nor communicate on that date"

Then how do we know they're here? Not all of us live in major cities.
we have a space station and many observatories you know.
I know. I facepalmed right after I hit the 'Post' button.

A) the concept is possible
B) not really
C) no
D) the fact that the idea of aliens was unthinkable up to the fifties and an idea needs to have an origin, so maybe roswell was true(nothing is true everything is permitted, assassin's creed, truly)
E) Stop interferring with my persona life

Imagine how awesome it would be.

Slowly, a fleet of weird flying saucers come into vision as they hold position above New York. Everybody is looking up in fear and awe as massive screen-like objects are deployed from the saucers. Then, suddenly, without anybody having an idea of why this is happening, "We're no stranger to loooooove! You know the rules, and so do I! A full commitment's what I'm thinking off. You wouldn't get this from any other guuuuy!"

Personally I don't believe in intelligent extra-terrestrial life but if they are real..
So you believe humans are the center of the universe...?
Dude, do you know how big the freaking universe is? I know i can't prove anything but i am 99.9% sure that there are other beings here than us.

I mean, why the hell wouldn't there be?

Sorry if I sound harsh, I just don't get why you wouldn't, I just wanna know why you don't.
Oh no, I believe life could exist elsewhere..it's just statistically more likely to be simple life (prokaryotic) than advanced. Eukaryotic life could exist but even then it is probably not as advanced as ours. I am not suggesting that we are the pinnacle of existence, besides in the cosmic scale we are a very young civilization and have only been around for a very short time, so there could be an older civilization out there, watching and waiting. It's just that, we have no proof of it. So my personal opinion is, that while advanced life could exist I believe us to be alone..till we can prove otherwise.

The obvious flaw with the Drake equation is that you can not quantitatively estimate all the terms in the equation. All of them are guess and when you multiply all your guesses together, your answer is just one.big.guess. The other major flaw is that the Drake equation assumes that every civilization follows a rise and fall scenario (a civ would arise and then die out within their original solar systems) BUT if a civilization advances to a point where they can adopt interstellar travel then that assumption no longer holds true. You would no longer have a static population locked in a cycle but a dynamic population that moves about to a greater extent (sort of how STDs spread about to a greater effect in Europe after the invention of the bicycle). This means that the Drake equation cannot predict P(sub i) for an advanced civ.

As for the "raw data", I just mean that none of our probes, SETI or radio/optical telescopic data has confirmed the presence of advanced life..yet. Well asides from the puzzling and almost eerie WOW! signal [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow!_signal] and Radio source SHGb02+14a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHGb02%2B14a]

If Aliens meet us soon, anywhere near this date, I will give NORAD 1000000 dollars. I don't even have this money, but I will give them that much because a former member of theirs predicted it right.

Of course, this probably won't happen, so I am just gonna call it now:

The NORAD guy is crazy.

Well he is running out of time or is already out of time depending on what time zone the aliens want to use.
