There actually were ufo sightings over NYC yesterday. It was all over the news last night.
I'm not kidding.

I'm not one of those people who firmly believes that we are often visited by aliens but if I found out we were, I wouldn't be that surprised either.

Winnipeg, MB (PRWEB) September 13, 2010 -- A newly-published 352-page book by a retired Air Force officer, Stanley A. Fulham, tentatively predicts October 13, 2010 as the date for a massive UFO display over the world?s principal cities. According to the author, the aliens will neither land nor communicate on that date; they are aware from eons of experience with other planets in similar conditions their sudden intervention would cause fear and panic.
Ha, I love the way he put in a notice just in case he was wrong. (which he knew he would be)

So, guys, im actually the king of the universe and have power over life and death you just don't know it yet.

The guy sounds delusional if you ask me.

Of course, meeting a benevolent/friendly alien race would be awesome (not sarcasm) but I don't think it's going to happen. For one, think of all the micro-organisms on this planet that aliens would not be used to (and for that matter, any they might bring here that we're not used to). There's every possibility that their structure is based on something other than carbon, as well, and would therefore be incapable of surviving here. Oxygen is a very corrosive gas, you know. And our main source of drink is also one of our main industrial solvents (water). That's pure speculation, though.

Basically; No way in hell it's gonna happen. It'd be cool if it did, though.
