See, the only problem I have with Batman is his Context-sensitive utility belt.

I'm sorry, but there is NO WAY he can plan for every tiny little thing that could ever happen. Also, as big a brain as he has, when it's not about the little gadgets in his designer fanny-pack of a belt and he does end up having to retreat back to his cave for whatever reason, how the hell does he manage to make an insta-win gadget within just a few hours or one night?

Hmm, a new villain? He calls himself Ultra Sound Man? I know, I'll create a small hand-held device that's smaller than my thumbnail that stops all sound in a 200-mile radius!

CONTEXT-BULLSH*T anti-villain. That's what Batman is.

And yes, I am a Batman fan, particularly of The Animated Series and Batman Beyond.

Batman is awesome. I don't understand why anyone would ever question his amount of awesome. I just don't.

Yahtzee said it best: "How come Batman is always the least interresting character in his own stories?"
Because his character has been mined holllow over dozens and dozens of storylines, comics, and retelling after retelling. The villains have as well through their own mini graphic novels or storylines. The fandom has explored EVERYTHING about Batman and the supporting characters, leaving no stone unturned. There is almost nothing left to discuss what hasn't been talked about countless times.

Batman is not a joke but he is not that great either. He is basicly in my mind par for the course.(UNLESS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE BURTON MOVIE)He is the generic non superpowered hero like how Superman is the generic Superpowered hero. Captain America on the other hand........
[HEADING=3] CAPTAIN AMERICA:He's like Superman without super-powers. How balls-out crazy-brave is that? [/HEADING]
Isn't he superhuman though? I always thought that counted as a superpower o.o

Well Kind of. He is just in the peak of human ability. (He runs like a one minute mile and he can bench press 1100 pounds.) He can't do stuff like shooting lasers or flying or taking bullets to the face.

Go watch Superman/Batman Apocalypse. Darkseid says it the best about Batman. "Unlike Superman and Wonder Woman you are human. You are willing to do whatever it takes."(You have to see the movie to know the context of it but its still an epic movie)(prefer the comic over the movie though I do have to say.)

Also, and not coincidentally: one of the very worst examples of Batman as a joke. There is simply no way he should be able to survive a physical confrontation with a villain who can kick people into orbit. Except that the Big Bad is always conveniently dialed down when Batman enters the picture.
I think a better example is where the:
army of Doomsdays appear and he is able to kill them along side the superhuman Amazonians and Superman when the original KILLED Superman

*edit* whoops forgot the ending spoiler tag there.

Oh God yes. I even forgot about that. Just awful.
I believe in the Comic that didn't happen he was on a different part of the island at the time but in the comic Darkseid beats him close to death because he has the:
whatever the hell they are called set to destroy Apocalypse. It can kind of be seen as why Darkseid would pull his punches when he is able to pretty much KILL superman.

I LOVE BATMAN, but my friend and I recently got into an argument about how awesome he really is. I believe that he is amazing because he beats the crap out of villains, and he doesn't have any super powers. My friend states that he is a crappy hero because he doesn't have super powers, and his main villains are just lunatics with guns (Penguin, Two-Face, Joker, Thorne etc.). My question to you escapist is what do you think of Batman? Do you think he is an awesome crime fighter, or a little girl that who would never be able to take down a villain of Superman or the X-Men?
My friend, you need to have a closer look at Batman lore. Not only has he taken down enemies of Superman and such, most of those superheros themselves find him creepy. Hell, Batman keeps (or at least used to keep) files with plans for how to stop every major superhero just on the off chance that they happen to turn evil.

It's fairly regularly suggested that, despite his lack of powers, Batman is the most dangerous superhero in the DC Universe.

I never really understood why DC books Batman so strongly. The more I think about Batman, the more he get on my nerves. He has no weakness (well besides being human). At least Ironman is an alky.
THat might be chalked up to extremely poor writing.. I mean... his parents were killed so he decided to dress up like a bat and beat the shit out of people... Pretty messed up in the head.

TBH, I think all superheroes are pretty boring, I find the genre as a whole to be yawn-tastic.

part of the awesomeness of batman is that it is all realistic to a degree! the fact that he is just a man makes him so much more awesome than somebody with powers.

to put this into perspective, who do you think is more awesome, a homeless man who gives 50% of his earnings every day to charity, or a billionaire who gives 2% of his fortune to charity?
A billionaire who's 100% Goddamn Batman.

He's pretty goddamn awesome; if your friend has a problem, direct him to the GODDAMN JUSTICE LEAGUE. Batman is one of the best, alongside Superman and Wonder Woman. So yeah. He's awesome; also, don't put down the Batman villains. The Joker very nearly killed Superman (World's Finest), and Poison Ivy took control of his mind (Hush Story Arc).
Scarecrow once drugged Superman. Superman saw what the world would looks like if it's surface was covered in kyrptonite... its was awesome.

OT: Batman is awesome. Read the batman and superman crossovers. Batman is the only person awesome enough that superman will go to for help (well not only, but the only one I've seen a cross over dedicated to). The one I just read involved Batman and Superman ridding the world of kryptonite.

Also, seriously it took a damn-near god to kill him. And even he only had the guts to send him back in time.

EDIT: Batman once took out Superman, Batman's first move (first, note the word first) was to block out the sun and it just got better from then.
Please, PLEASE direct me to those two stories. I WANT to read them. :D

The one where the team up is called "Superman:Batman. The search for kyrptonite". It was released 2008 I think.

The blocking out the sun one I'm not entirely sure on, I read it around a friends so I don't own it myself.

To best of my recollection Batman (with some help from Green Arrow) takes out Superman in "the dark knight returns" by Frank Miller. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful with second one, I'll try and see my friend and ask him. If I get any news I'll send you a message.

EDIT: The sequel to "the dark knight returns" has a scene in which the Atom is trapped in a pertri dish and has to fight bacteria like they're dinosaurs. Defiantly worth a look into.

EDIT2: Sorry, one last thing, if you want proof of Batman's awesomeness just read the bit in blackest night were Black Hand brings him back to "life" and look at the "Oh Shi..." faces on pretty much the entire JLA.

Batman is the only one who can kill Superman if he goes rogue.
Wrong. Green Lantern. Actually any of them if they were to use kryptonite like Batman would.
Er, Green Lantern Batman? He's like, PACHOOOOO, I'm the goddamn Batman, with a bitchin' ring of awesomeness.

Every superhero has his or her flaws.
Like Superman has kryptonite, Batman has the fact that he has no superpowers(Though this may not be a weakness 'cause since he has to find creative ways around what he lacks he can come up with something to counter almost any enemy. Superpowered or not).

So i'd say Superman has a bigger flaw than Batman, seeing as how anyone who sets their mind to it can somehow get their hands on kryptonite, but no one i've seen has been able to outwit the Batman.

Conclusion: Batman's more awesome that most SUPERheroes

Green Lantern couldn't do it if Superman decided to wear a nice Yellow sweater when he went rouge.
