we straight up see and unarmoured Batman dodge a massive heat vision blast that destroys the building he grapples from. It wasn't going to be Superman that tried to murder him, so everything pointed to Doomsday.
Doomsday doesn't have heat vision, I don't see how that could point to him. That points way more towards Bizarro, if anything.

Edit: Did more research, I guess New52 gave him parasite-like power absorption? I hate the New52 shit, so it's no surprise I didn't know that.

Wow, they really aren't that confident in this movie if they revealed that this early.

So, what do you think of the new trailer?
Which gun? You mean the rifle he's holding at the end? Or the freaking chainguns on his batjet thingy that he's hosing down Superman with, and also spraying sections of the city behind him when they miss? Considering that, him holding a rifle seems a little insignificant to me. Besides, like others have said, it's probably just a zot gun or something. He's all about gadgets, and isn't above shooting somebody with something non lethal to stop them.

Forget the "omg he's holding a gun!" thing, rewatch at about 1:50 where he opens up 2 chainguns from his batwing.

Crazy theory: what if the movie goes back to Batman's roots as pulp hero who did shoot and kill people in late '39 and early '40s?

So, exactly what I thought would happen?

They fight briefly, then hook up to fight a greater evil. So now Doomsday, Wonder Woman, and, for some reason, Aquaman are all shoehorned into this film? What a mess.

The tragedy is that the comparatively cheap cartoon from fifteen years ago was infinitely more interesting from what we're getting now.

To be fair, Doomsday hasn't been 100% consistent since his introduction. He's been...

-An alien child who was continually killed and resurrected, each time modified to overcome the previous thing that killed him. This version was eventually able to resurrect and evolve itself, both increasing its resilience to what killed it previously and spontaneously growing new powers.
-A naturally occurring being who is capable of changing to meet new challenges.
-Several cloned creatures that were engineered specifically to combat certain individuals, often with the ability to copy the powers of whoever it was sent to kill.
-A clone using butchered DNA samples from Superman, unlike Bizarro, who's genetic make-up fell apart, and who is capable of recovering from fairly severe injuries and evolving to combat whatever hurt it.

Since this Doomsday is pretty obviously some sort of derivative of the 'krypton clone' Doomsday (Justice League Animated probably being the most famous of that type), it's not really that big of a stretch to give him heat vision.

Am I the only one who thinks Doomsday looks like the cave troll from "Lord of the Rings", or maybe one of the new Ninja Turtles from the Michael Bay reboot?
Of course he looks like a troll. Except for one version of Doomsday, they've all been troll like.

Most versions of Batman use a gun, though it usually some sort of gun that fires rubber bullets, or cannon that is only used to disable vehicles.

The trailer has two Batman guns - Some sort of aircraft equipped rapid fire cannon that was probably designed specifically to take on armored vehicles, or Superman himself, and what appears to be some sort of grenade launcher, which is line with what Batman usually uses in firearms, some sort of multi-use canister launcher.

EDIT: About the only thing completely out of character for Batman in all forms is his cavalier usage of the rapid fire cannons, which is surprisingly shoddy for the character. But he is fighting a god damn Physical God, so I suppose we can give him some leeway.

Wow um, did they just spoil the entire movie with this trailer? cause that's what it seems like

anyway it seems... okay, the humor seems a bit forced to me
That what trailers are like these days. (So Zod is Doomsday now?)

OT- Am I missing something? Where exactly is Batman is using a gun? All I saw was some hail of bullets hitting Superman from every angle? No evidences to say that it was Batman who was shooting him?

Also having Wonder Woman appearing out of nowhere seen really bad in my view unless they can explained it (which I guessing she just forseen Doomsday arrival).

EDIT- Oh wait, nevermind it was right at the end with the holy trinity (Supe, WW and Bat). Who knows, maybe it's a stun gun or something. That what they usually get around with when Batman is holding a gun like weapon in the cartoon.

So like, now we know everything that happens in that movie.
Which means that Cinema Tickets just lost to Extravagant Takeaway in the Barbas household. My parents are also likely too old to understand or enjoy this film. Staying home and talking to them about the past may also be more interesting than going to see this film. Quite pleased by this development.

It's a grappling hook gun. Not so weird if you've played or seen much of the Arkham games. Reasonably certain I also saw that in several cartoon episodes and films.

So, what do you think of the new trailer?
All fur coat and no knickers.

Trailer looks good to me. I will remain the 1% of the internet who is genuinely looking forward to this film.

Wow... I'm really digging Luthor a lot more than I was beforehand...

Other than that, Aquaman's so going to get the final punch... :p

Judging by these comments I don't want to watch the trailer. That said, it seems odd that they would go with Doomsday. While the character isn't exactly Shakespearean he does serve as a foil to Superman in the comics - Superman is treated with basic human deceny, respect and love and he becomes an omni-benevolent god while Doomsday is scorned with horrific malice and he becomes a destroyer of worlds. Given that DCCU Superman is a quite bit different from comics Superman I'm not sure that the foil works, especially if they're going to significantly alter Doomsday backstory. That was really just about the only thing that I thought worked about it. Then again, he fits the "no fun allowed" mold, he's immediately recognizable, you don't have to worry about giving him backstory, dialogue or otherwise deal with all of that pesky humanizing
Gotta agree with this. In addition to that, it's worth considering that Doomsday's whole claim to fame is killing Superman, and the aftermath (temporary as it is) that has on the world and other superheros. By nature, his presence better fits a story where the Justice League is put in dire straits and its future is in question than it does one which leads to the creation of the Justice League. If they wanted a seemingly unstoppable monster for everyone to unite against, Amazo would arguably have been a better fit for the apparent storyline and could have doubled as the embodiment of the anti-superpowered alien sentiment that's an apparent driving point of that story.

I hadn't thought about it, but yes, Amazo would have been a far better choice for that type of storyline.

Unfortunately, I feel like Amazo needs more explanation and screen time to make sense then this movie can give it. It's already jammed in 5 character introductions, two conflicts (Not counting Doomsday), and the overarching conflict between Batman's 'Fuck all of you, I'm justice' and Superman's 'I'm practically a God, everyone worship me only slightly less then Jesus' style of crime fighting. As far as popular Superman villains, I think only Bizaro and Doomsday could fit into whats left time wise, and even Bizaro would probably be robbed of what he is. As you say, Doomsday's real claim to fame is killing Superman, and on a character level no one really cares about him. It's why they were able to jam him into the Justice Lords storyline in the DCAU - He's just a big bruiser that can hurt Superman and doesn't bring much story baggage with him. Pretty perfect, really, thought slightly underwhelming thematically.

Who can say for sure; but I think with all the negative hype this movie has already generated, showing their hand was probably the smartest thing they could do to try to convince us the whole movie isn't going to be a joyless, half-full bucket of piss with a partially drowned, semiconscious rat feebly twitching in it like its predecessor is. For my part, as someone who I think has made his position about the movie pretty damned clear as recently as just that previous sentence, I think the gambit paid off. I mean, I'm still convinced the movie will suck, but I get kind of a vicarious thrill out of how much fun Jesse Eisenberg seems to be having, and the Wonder Woman reveal at the end is stupid but halfway cool.

No. I've already seen memes suggesting both. He also looks like the Abomination. That shot of him quarter-facing the camera and snarling looks like it was taken almost frame for frame from the Abomination turning around in Brooklyn to snarl at the Hulk.

This must be the original trailer that annoyed everyone.

All I've seen is the fan-remix that was thought to be wildly superior.

That trailer was fucking awful and the score in the final shot with Bats, Supes and Wonder Woman just made me laugh out loud.

This movie is going to be a train wreck.
