It's been out for a few days, but just to give every interested type a hand, here it is:

Essentially it's a merging of the three other videos they've released so far with a shootout sequence at the end. It's explicitly labelled as alpha footage, and there are a few graphical things I'd like tweaked - the movement of guns whilst sprinting, the explosion effects - but otherwise it's looking pretty solid.

There's some nice scenarios on display, it's not all straightforward running and gunning, and it looks beautiful. Once the shooting does start it seems pretty much just like any other shooter on the market, but then I guess realistic-style games have kinda nailed this style of play so there's not a lot to do to mix up the mechanics without being gimmicky or something.

IMO, it's looking pretty sweet, much more interested in it than I have been for any of the other shooter releases over the last couple of years (and not just because I loved Battlefield, heh ¬_¬) - I can only hope that they stick with the Bad Company 2 or BF2 style multiplayer, rather than succumbing to the CoD system. Would like to see more saturated colours though...

What do you think? Interesting or too generic? Different enough to set it apart from the market leaders?

I don't like 12 minutes of Cinematic gameplay.
Seriously, this always happens, they're like moving the camera with grace looking around at their amazing environments, I want to see pure gameplay, the kind of gameplay you'd get when someone does a let's play off it on release.
But aside from that it looks pretty good, although every fps that get's released just doesn't do anything for me, looks exactly like everything before it, just with flashy graphics.

To me battle field is all about the multilayer, I personally don't care about the single player part of the game at all. By the looks of all the trailers and talk from the developers they understand that BFBC2 is not a true battlefield game, and they also seem to understand that its all about the big maps, armor, and the jets, how ever I have not heard about the commander/squad play in the game and how they are going to tackle that (like the other true battlefields lets hope).

At the end of the day good or bad EA knows how to sell a game like all good big companies, whether its any good or not we will just have to see. Lets hope is the next best thing to happen to PC FPS!

I wanna see some multiplayer gameplay!

This is one of the few games I'll be getting more for multi than SP.

This. Although to be fair those twelve minutes were pretty badass.

I predict that the whole reason they are showing all this single-player gameplay is to get fans all hyped up, ready for when they do reveal multiplayer (which I expect will be at E3). I have to say, it's working damn well for me at least.

While it looks good, it's still a disappointment seeing as how we've already seen 90% of that footage. But whatever, I'll keep waiting for the multiplayer stuff. Those 2 seconds of aerial combat in that other trailer looked good enough to keep me patient.

Eh, I don't see how. Sure it wasn't as massive, but all the ingredients were there. I had many epic moments, worthy of the Battlefield name.

I'd say most fans are rather disappointed, because most BF fans don't care about singleplayer at all. BF was always about the multi.

I guess I'm not "most fans", but all I've seen of BF3 so far has gotten me more interested than i was. I've been a fan by blood since 1942, and the Bad Company games were in my opinion a rather depressing turn for the series, but seeing as I'm not a console gamer and they were intended for that market I let it slide. I'm just now glad that the true BF is coming back, and I care little if it has a single player or not, though I can't see why it would be a negative thing if it does, nor do I see why someone would get disappointed by such content. It adds more to the game, and for some people it's the reason to buy it.

Me? I'm waiting for the multi player, have since 2142 started getting old ^^.

Console? Hah! Playing BC2 on the PC is so much better than on any console (own it both for the PS3 and bought it again for the PC when I got a new machine), really not seeing how it's intended for that market. Epic battles, vehicles, the feeling of being in a big important battle, it's all there.

Regardless, at least the singleplayer stuff we've seen doesn't seem to suck, and it's always a nice addition to the game. But the info about the multiplayer, now that makes my mouth water. But from a marketing perspective it just strikes me as odd to market the singleplayer first, then go to the multi. It's still Battlefield y'know.

This game will be amazing. I just hope that there will be a multiplayer mode similar to Rush from Bad Company 2.

I actually own BC2 for the PC, and I couldn't get myself to really enjoy it, even after almost 40 hours spent in multi player with friends (how I prefer to play games). It wasn't (for me), and still isn't Battlefield enough... Hoping BF3 will be!

In which way, I wonder? Nearly makes me doubt whether I'm doing it right...

It was, however, designed for consoles, and I've heard several features of the console version are not available on PC. It was a rare example of a good port, but it was still aimed at the console market.

It looks beautiful.

That's all I can see separating it from CoD. Well, that and a few snippets of vehicular activity.

But hell, it's a Battlefield game. They know how to do multiplayer, and I'm sure they'll deliver on that front soon enough. 64 players, delicious epic multiplayer goodness.

I just hope jets and helicopters aren't in the singleplayer. People complained enough with the (super easy) VTOL section in Crysis, and I sure don't want the aircraft dumbed down any more.

Ha ha. ha. ehh. No.
Not a good port. Mouse acceleration, narrow FOV, animation delay, unresponsive movement, weapon accuracy too high, no recoil, revive protection, etc etc.

Also, the menu crashes when I change settings, and I can't play it in custom resolutions in windowed mode. Basic stuff right there.

Well, I've done this rant time and time again, so I'll give you a short version XD.

The maps are too small, at times far too much so. In the Battlefield series I've always loved being able to chose which approach my squad and me take on any target, and that requires larger maps. You can't flank in BC2, it's impossible. You CAN do the little "flank around this building to hit the guy in the rear", but you can't go around enemy lines, place your sniper on a sneaky hill somewhere and then hit the enemy position in the rear. Also vehicles will be able to do their job like they should, in the confined spaces of BC2 they just can't.

64-player there must be! I know this is arguable, but it just doesn't feel Battlefield with any less. It kinda goes with the larger maps, obviously 64 players on the small BC2 maps wouldn't go well... Personally I'd love to see a bit more than this too ^^.

A squad needs a leader, or there's just a bunch of guys running about doing their own thing, but happen to be able to spawn on each other (can't remember who said that, but some Escapist I think). It's also very practical to have one guy at least be able to mark things on the map and give clear and comprehensive orders for the rest of the squad to follow, it makes for a more team-based game.

Being able to prone... PRONE DAMN IT!

*shrug* Alright. I'd heard differently. Plus, another forum I go to plays it on PC in big community games , and liked it so much they voted it their GotY 2010, so I don't suppose it can be unplayably bad.

In their defence, they are probably comparing to Modern Warfare 2. They're separating the chaff from the crappier chaff.
