The controls have been pretty unresponsive. Running will randomly refuse to work and the spot system is out of whack. In addition, sometimes my gun just wouldn't fire for a moment, causing me to die due to the delay (not lag either).
I thought that too, but you have to actually unlock unlimited sprint for some reason.
I'm not sure why, but during my first couple of games, I was getting insta-killed as well. Not by snipers, but by umps. One shot, one kill. I think my k-d ratio was about 2-11 and 3-12 for the first couple of games. However, once I started to rank up, it got a lot better and soon my k-d ratio was between 2:1 and 3:1. It seems like they may have tied health into rank which I'm not a fan of.
It's really just the lag time it takes to tell you that you've been hit. the person can put about two shots into you before the screen lets you know you've been shot.

It's taking a huge amount of will power, but I am not playing as then I would have to use the spyware loaded piece of rubbish that is Origin.

So Battlefield 3 is the battle of will power for me.

Yeah, Origins is really terrible too. I really am contemplating just forgetting about using it and waiting for them to make a compromise with Steam. If not, I just won't play anymore EA games, which sucks cause I miss out on Mass Effect 3.

No, it was really getting bothersome after I unlocked sprint. I figured because I hadn't unlocked it (they had it in BC2), that was the reason. It actually seem to get worse after I unlocked sprint and played more.

You unlock lightweight gear, dunno why they are calling it sprint.

Without it you can still sprint and with it you can sprint for longer time/faster

(My bad, I missed the part that you said unlimited)

Problem is even if you are able to purchase on Steam in the future, I still think you will be stuck with Origin being needed. The same way steamworks is needed no mater where you purchase your Valve game...

Personally, I haven't gotten around to trying the beta yet. But I hear it's quite good.
Hopefully I can get into some servers on my PS3.

So true. I guess I can only wait and hope it gets better. Steamworks was pretty bad when it first came out. It took a long time to work out all the kinks.

The Beta so far is great, but the map is kinda sucky. It's virtually impossible to win as the attackers because the latter section consists of 2 main routes which are always pinned by snipers

Is it also true that you have to select the knife as any other weapon? Just like in the olden days? Because I got that idea from another gameplay video. If it's true, then huzzah!
It's selectable, and can be used to cut people, yes.

But we do have a quick-access Knife button, like in CoD.

But again. If you get knifed, and nobody shoots the knifer while he's stuck in the animation, then your team fails and it probably isnt gonna make much of a difference on your game experience anyway :p

Either way, I think it's nice that a guy can sneak up on a sniper, and get the satisfaction of a silent and very cool looking kill, while it's still not overpowered, as it takes a short animation to do so, during which the knifer can be shot to death, leaving the victim standing.

And of course you die quicker here, so even in the underground, corridor-ridden area of Operation Metro, you will still only get knife kills on an unsuspecting victim.

Seems like a very, very good middle-ground to me.

Yeap, it ain't perfect, but that does sound like a very good middle ground indeed.

In the meantime, I'll just wait for Origin to stop spazzing out so I can download the beta on the PC. Already downloading the PS3 version, but I care fairly little about that.

Actually, there's three routes into each area.

Three main paths through the fields, three metro tunnels, three exits from the metro, and three paths down onto the road afterwards.

If you draw it first and walk around with it, you don't have to wait to draw it, and you don't make that little 'shink' noise before you can hit them.
