I can't wait for it to be terrible like every Battlefield since 1942.
Damn. Ninja'd.

The only thing that'd get me to buy this is if they released a complete 1942/1943 expansion pack with all the maps, weapons and vehicles from 1942, AND an option to turn on 'classic' mode without destructability, ironsights, and stamina limits.

Aghhh I hope they don't go full on CoD clone...Bad Company 2 was amazing but I was hoping to see some Battlefield 2 elements pushed into it.

Edit: Why is everyone saying the series has been bad since Vietnam? Bad Company 2 is awesome, did anyone even give it a chance? Or did we all pass it off as a CoD clone?

Looks pretty interesting to me. Looks like Medal of Honor, just with different multiplayer modes.

Of course there is no complaints from console about 64 player games.

It is such a mind boggling stupid mechanic that basically breaks the game.
Vehicle combat and large team sizes broken up into smaller squads have basically been what I associate with the Battlefield franchise. With Bad Company comes the destruction mechanic. Those three things make the game, so 64 player maps are hardly a stupid game breaking mechanic. It prevents one player from carrying a team and actually provides a potent reason to work in a squad. In my opinion the stupidest thing DICE did was botch voice communication. For a game emphasising squad based gameplay the fact you can't be sure whether the guy in your squad can hear you or not is just stupid.

Bad Company's low player count squad death match and squad rush modes are the bastard offspring of CoD Battlefield and while they're fun they aren't exactly typical for the franchise.

Will it still take all my ammo, shot into their head, to drop 1 guy?

Bullets have always been too weak in the BF series.

Oh good, something to keep the hype from getting too high. Looks like medics are using LMGs again.
I think medics using lmgs was one of the smartest things anyone has done with a class based multi fps game in awhile, sure it can be annoying when you get a squad of 4 medics running around keeping each other revived and shooting the fuck out of you but thats why the assualt class has grenade launchers

personally Im stoked about how this looks, I upgraded my comp for bf3 and its looking like it was money well spend... well I upgraded it for dow2 retribution, guild wars 2 and bf3 but so far all of them are coming up aces
I'd rather see LMGs in the hands of a Support class, and SMGs in the hands of Spec Ops.
medics are support, thats why it works well for them to have it, besides, healing is one of the more difficult things to make fun in a game, bc2 does it well, toss down a health pack and hold a position

Ill bet money it will have a hardcore mode like badcompany 2 did, where it only takes a couple rounds to drop someone with almost any gun

Those shots are from the PS3 version, not PC. So that could explain some stuff. STILL LOOKS GREAT.

console player number?
I believe it's 24 for consoles
I thought that they were gonna try 32. Oh well it will still be awesome.
They haven't given a number for console. I think its save to say its going to be 32, but because of the map sizes it could be in the 40's.
20 on 20 would be awesome. Make it happen Dice!

Bad Company 2 is one of my favourite games ever, and certainly the one I've spent most time on over the last year. If this is simply a continuation of that, I'll be very happy. If not, I'll enjoy it for what it is.

Yeah. Favorite kit in BF2 ruined.

Also, no commanders. Yeah im pretty sure this will just be Bad Company 3. Dice just doesnt get what made the original Battlefields so great in the first place

Will there be Battlefield Commanders?

WILL THERE BE BATTLEFIELD COMMANDERS?!

Battlefield Commanders are the reason games in BF2 and 2142 don't devolve into giant cluster-fucks. Battlefield Commanders keep the team moving like a well-oiled machine. Please, tell me, WILL THIS GAME HAVE BATTLEFIELD COMMANDERS?!

For those that don't know, Battlefield Commanders are regular players who are put in charge of the team. They then direct squads to attack points, call in UAV's, airstrikes, ammo drops, vehicle drops, and are basically the backbone to any good team. It plays kind of like an RTS, only the troops are real people.

Well, they will talk about squads later, won't they?

Also, the commanders in BF2 weren't that fully realised in my eyes. We mostly did away with squads.

If they make the part of the game better though, that is epic.

And, as much as I hate that the PC version seems to be the only one getting the 64 players, there's no other game I could be as excited for as the follow-up for Battlefield 2.

Perhaps, but they were really well done in Battlefield 2142. Its basically the one feature that'll make/break my purchase of this game. Its that big of a deal to me.

Well.

Yeah, I could see why. However, I think you underestimate the ability of random people online to follow orders... or maybe there are plans to set up an Escapist BF server?
