I played the Xbox 360 multiplayer beta, and that was enough for me. Maybe I'm just not used to insta kill weaponry, but I didn't like not having a chance to fight back when being shot at. I personally think Call of Duty is substantially better, it just feels more polished. Also, I never understood why whenever I'd die, my character would lift his hand up as if to say "You got me guys, I'm out". I have no idea why they did that, and why they did a lot of other things that I don't really feel like going into at the moment.

I'm getting this for PC, but I am currently watching a stream for the 360 version and I'm very impressed at how good it looks considering the hardware limitations.
Indeed, I am quite impressed with the visuals on my Xbox :3

However, Battlefield has and always will be about the sound design for me, and they certainly did not disappoint. Firefights sound like firefights, footsteps sound like the noise 180 pound soldier carrying all of that gear would make, and the radio chatter (especially in the vehicle-based missions) is like porn for military-nuts like me.

I must say the campaign is getting better, and I am getting used to the controls and little nuances.

I personally found the campaign somewhat disappointing, felt too much like CoD (in some ways that I won't say). And I felt like lacked any real grace with trying to transition between scenes. I don't mind the six some-odd hour campaign, but at least make it flow nicely instead of being gittery.

I was disappointed with the campaign. Provided it was only 5 hours (no lie). It is serious and has a bit of action. But I was expecting more emotion. The trailers portrayed it as an emotional FPS, and there was nothing like that. Single player wise I was let down

I have limited experience with the Ps3 multi but my first impression is:

The engine runs worse than BC2 and the console MP graphics look awful. The render distance is so bad that an enemy can cross a hillside 100 yards in front of you and you will likely never see him unless you zoom and let the game render him. It is jumpy, has below average frame rates, and is essentially buggier than a matress in a whore house.

Also, weapon damage is a pathetic joke. A carbine or assault rifle seems to do the same damage, or more, than the starting sniper rifles. I had 2 instances in the last hour where I shot individuals in the head 3 times before they died as well as dozens of head shot survivals that got away.

It needs work and I can see why operation metro was the beta map. No areas big enough to show the stitches. Also, the beta looked better visually.

- Looks very nice (duh).

- Battlelog and Origin are irritating and unnecessary, but basically functional.

- Much less buggy than the beta, but far, far from bug free.

- Single player campaign is absolute arse, mostly because it's neck deep in scripting. As bad as Black Ops, if not worse. This is a game that you are forced to play exactly as the designers intended. No room whatsoever for creative tactics or the like. If you try and step off the path, the game will yank you back on the leash and hit you across the face with a rolled up newspaper.

- Multiplayer is good. Basically BF:BC2 with new maps, better customization and some new toys.

I've gotten the hang of the sniping now, the apartment assault on "Night Shift" is a blast. Sniping PLR like a pro :D

The tank levels before this were rather annoying, however. The whole "Ramirez, do everything!" approach to vehicle warfare does not work at all. I have to agree that so far, CoD definitely has better, more polished and honestly more realistic campaigns with regards to teamwork. In CoD the AI teammates actually kill people once in a while between barking orders at you. In this, your squad is useless. Seriously, I don't think any of my teammates have killed a single enemy since Operation Guillotine.

Well, its not out in Aus yet, so I can't play it, but from the Beta it seemed alright. Yeah, I wish they had of kept the BF2 almost insta-prone style, but it seems they were more intent on animations than allowing people to get in and out of cover quickly. All it means is that you have to slightly adapt your strategies. Its what humans do right?

As for aiming, on the PC its just fine. I miss my tanks MG for the driver though :( I loved having a cannon and a MG, for taking out infantry and armour, but I can kinda see why we don't have one...
That's pretty heavily counter-balanced by the fact that the machine gunner is no longer exposed to be murdered by every single sniper in an 800 mile radius.

I...I don't think we played the same game. Oh wait, console. Carry on.

It was horrible, overhpyed, and falsely advertised.

I tried to return it to gamestop and they only gave me 20$ for it, figures.

I've yet to get past the Rally at Uprising, I my damn PS3 keeps freezing when I go to open the roll up door after you link up with the MG trooper. Hell, I was knocking heads against graphics glitches throughout the firefights. Damn it, processor issues and graphics capabilities aren't supposed to come up with a console game. AFTER a 121 MB patch download. I'm severely disapointed

I want to like this game. I can't. It feels like it's the pre-alpha version so far (playing on the Xbox 360). The spawns in Team Deathmatch are easily the worst in any video game I remember. During the countdown, I will spawn with enemies. After I clear out the enemies (providing that nobody spawned behind me), then somebody will spawn behind me seconds later. Also, how do laser sights and flashlights blind people outside, and in broad daylight? Why do you have to let the enemy set up a defensive position after you destroy a set of objectives? Battlefield 3, so realistic. To make it worse, the servers are already down, unacceptable. I paid $60 for this game, I should be able to play it when I want. When Gears of War 3's servers went down, people could still play because they also had player hosted games if the servers were full. It's a bit laggy, but at least you can play, so why didn't EA do this? Why didn't they prepare for this, this happens for every one of their major games, they have no excused. Why didn't I see this coming? This comment probably makes no sense since I'm really disappointed. I ain't a Call of Duty fanboy, but I'm pretty sure this makes Modern Warfare 3 by default.

You know you can unlock it easily if you bought Digital/have a Key, right?

e.g.: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=20387641&postcount=28851 or using a VPN from any country it released in already.
Cheers, multi player is a no go though.

I'm disappointed with the single player campaign after finally getting past the freeze glitch in Uprising.

I'm running from FPS cliche to FPS cliche and I'm just feeling let down by the whole affair. Oh look, ambush mission, oh look, lone wolf mission, oh look, sniper mission, oh look, escort mission, oh look, random firefight. The Tank section livened things up, but the second half is, oh look, turret shooter. Its just so mediocre...I can't even identify with the characters, some of them are interesting, but them, oh look, First person execution of your character.

I won't even complain about the hardware issues and the enemy AI and spawn issues which honestly...that is beneath my contempt, it's a CONSOLE for god's sake, there's no swing or miss with computer power to deal with, it's ALL KNOWN.

I haven't gotten into the multi-player yet, but the single player campaign is just a consistent let down.

Hmm, bad as I expected. Bad Company 2's campaign had to be THE most boring campaign I had ever played, there was nothing at all that was exciting. Only a few line's were even remotely funny, too. It was just so stale, the only thing that kept me from quitting was the fact that I would feel a bit guilty not finishing the game. I don't even know how to explain it, it was just plain boring, I can't even say more than that. Basically what I'm saying is Battlefield 3 shouldn't of included a campaign, and maybe if it didn't it would be much more polished than the ridiculously, uhh, messy, for lack of a better word, multi-player.

Yeah. I remember getting mah sniper out and getting about 5 people consecutively who got in the tank's top gunner seat. When they realised what was going on, I was long gone (Good ol' jeeps).

Does make the tank also somewhat vulnerable to groups of engineers without its top gunner this way, more focus on teamwork. Though, if you are a good driver you can run most of them down without a problem anyway...

Doesn't make a console able to run it well. Simply because the hardware is known, doesn't mean it will work the same as it does on far better hardware. PC users with lower hardware have had similar issues, if the Beta forums are anything to go by. The game seems to take a lot to run it, something consoles are being rapidly left behind in. Personally, I'm glad someone finally made a game that pushes hardware in the modern age. Crysis originally did, but that was years ago. 'bout time its happened again, though, I do feel bad for the people who get bugs because of it. Maybe shoulda cut the player limit down to 20 or something, or made a 28 player version of the map instead of using the same map for all numbers of players (Unless they have done this, for what I mean see BF2).

While it's alright in the single player, rather C grade in my eyes, the fact that those of us who can't buy the game and rely on Blockbuster/Gamefly can't play multiplayer at all? Drops the game down to D for me. Seriously, if you do not have the funds to buy the game and would rather rent, you are missing a good 75% of the game. You MUST buy the game new or waste 800 Microsoft points to play multiplayer. FOR A MULTIPLAYER GAME.

Multiplay is great, I'm loving every minute of it.

Single player, I was extremely upset. The campaign was laughably tiny. Story was better than most fps's, but the size just killed any hopes I had for it. 3-4 hours maybe. I posted a thing on the battlefield forums about it and what I got was basically "Battlefield isn't supposed to be a singleplayer game"
Fuck it isn't, I paid 60$ and part of that was for a story that took more than two sittings to beat. I remember when games not only could have a good story and multiplayer, but needed to have a good story and multiplayer if they wanted to get good reviews.
