I should expect this kind of stupid douchebaggery from EA, but I might avoid this game completely because of this, not just for the fact that I absolutely hate EA.

Battlefield 3, definitely NOT on my wish list.

Oh yeah... its going to fail... its just the rule. The more effort you put behind somethings success, the higher the chance it fails...

That has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

BF 2 was amazing and BF 3 will be good.
Just for clarification, Im not saying BF3 is going to fail to be impressive, Im saying its going to fail to surpass COD and take the FPS crown or whatever... Impressive as BF3 may be, there are alot of people that will buy COD and its overcharged DLC.

Also, If BF3 ends up beating COD, I will gladly eat my words, as I am not in a win/lose situation with this, Im in a lose/win. If BF3 fails to beat COD, I was correct, and COD still reigns (which will leave me disappointed); If BF3 does beat COD, Im wrong, but I win because there is a significantly better game (which, regardless of win or lose, im still buying BF3 as I am fucking tired of COD and Activision.)

I have to admit I'm excited about this. Maybe just because I freakin' loved Battlefield 2 and never got on the Bad Company bandwagon that it's been a LONG time since I got some good Battlefield playtime. Jonesing for it.

Hmmm....I'm faced with only one issue over Battlefield 3.

Do I buy if for PC, since by the time it launches I'll have a shiny new PC capable of running pretty much anything I want it to (and I do plan to break it with Guild Wars 2 and a few other games), but be constantly beset by the problems I have with all PC games (Clans, servers, my dislike of the keyboard for shooters) or buy it for the 360, which will come with its own set of problems (Probably die out quickly, less support than PC version, idiots)?

I think they're just setting up for a larger fall. Battlefield 3 won't beat the next Call of Duty. At least in terms of sales. If the past 2 CoD's are any indication, the next one will make over a billion dollars. Literally.

Good luck with that EA.

As long as it has big maps, vehicles, and classes I honestly don't get how anyone can call a game a CoD killer. The point of CoD is that it is small squad maps, individual load outs, and kill streaks. CoD is the spiritual successor of Counter Strike, and guess what people loved that style of gameplay while others loved the whole giant battle with vehicles and classes. How can aim to kill CoD when you're not doing CoD gameplay but just mimicking the look? Do you think players are just that dumb and will say hey this looks like a lot like call of duty it must be the same thing rite?
The only way you can make a CoD killer is by pretty much making the same game and taking/fixing all the things people have problems with in the latest CoD game.

I hope they leave all the screaming dbag kiddies to play CODCOPY#8!

OK thats generalization.... as a vet of the BF series playing BFBC2 there was a mass influx of players that whined and cried that it wasnt like COD, they complained the maps were too big, and hated the fact that they couldnt solo and win. that was BFBC2 where there was 4 character classes and far less teamwork needed than there was in BF2. If BF3 is like they said a real BF game going back to the BF roots then that will be near every COD fanboy hating it.

even if its BFBC2 with bigger maps, more vehicles, more character classes, and some classic BF gametypes it will be better than any COD game, and better than BFBC2 itself. but to do it they need to start a major ad campaign asap, and go back to the true roots and give an SDK so fans can make mods and maps like we could in the past. And that goes for a map tool for consoles! FarCry2 had a map tool so EA/Dice can too! and I think a map making tool would bring it over the top and take down COD!

Meh... Lost my interest when the games director said that the game will be much more closed than the previous battlefield titles, after he had told how boring be finds sandbox-games.

To the question posed at the end of the article:
Yes.

The long answer,
Hell yes.

That was referring to single player you know. But why read too much?

I haven't read a single thing that says DICE is actually developing the mechanics of BF3 in such a manner to compete with Call of Duty. All EA has been saying all this time is that BF3 is going to compete with CoD. That's it.

Same issue for me. I was torn when it came to Crysis 2, and although I'm happy to own it on the PC, the amount of auto-aim absolutely ruins most online play. That or the laggy servers. I decided to go with the PC for Battlefield 3 'cause most of my friends only play on the PC, and 64 multiplayer just sounds... awesome. As for the whole keyboard/mouse issue, I just use a Xbox 360 PC-compatible controller for FPS games.

Oh, and yes, just yes for Guild Wars 2.

I Really really want BF3 to be good. I'm terrified that they've "CODified" the series though. Just having vehicles wasn't what made Battlefield. I haven't been reading up too much on BF3, but If there's things like kill streaks, and only 16 people per game (32 is a joke for max players too), without a doubt going to pass on this.
The player limit will be 64 on PC's and 24 on consoles (I STILL call bullshit on this decision).

The only "CoDifying" that's to be done is with the singleplayer, and I believe that's just making it a little more cinematic and having more set pieces. I don't believe it extends into multiplayer at all.

OT: I'm more than likely getting it, but I'm still not fully decided yet. The 24 player limit on consoles is REALLY bugging me. I love the Battlefield series, but I haven't been able to fully experience it because I don't have the opportunity to get a decent PC. I've been wanting a chance to actually experience the true Battlefield and not a bloody spinoff. That hope kind of died when the 24 player limit was confirmed. If I wanted to play another Bad Company, I'd just play Bad Company and save my $65. I know that consoles couldn't handle 64, but I know DAMN WELL we can handle 32. 6 more players shouldn't be that hard for consoles. If they up it from 24 to 32, I would be 100% sold on it.
