Well, I always save up for my birthday, it's usually something of a piss up.oplinger said:Laugh when XP stops being supported by Microsoft. Also by then -nothing- else will support XP.RhombusHatesYou said:Celebrate my 41st birthday. You?oplinger said:What will you do when April 2014 rolls around?

They should upgrade because more and more games will take this approach on the PC, just like Just Cause 2 and Battlefield 3. XP is nine years old after all and sure, people can stick to it if they want, but I don't think they should complain when games drop it's support.ShasoRmyr said:Or some people think that they don't need to upgrade. They use the old system, it works fine for them, why should they upgrade? Just because it's new?Liberaliter said:Good. We need to progress and utilise current technologies. Anyone still using XP deserves not to play this game. I hope more games adopt this approach in the future.
I'm a gamer who still uses XP, and it works fine. I will upgrade when my desktop dies or I make a major upgrade, but until then I doubt 7 is a big enough improvement for me to upgrade. (I am primarily use consoles to play games anyway so it doesn't affect my much, but I still buy some PC only games)
Please let that be sarcasm.Monkeyman8 said:Korten12 said:As one of the forum posters, daltob to be exact in the Battlefield 3 to be ported to console topic said that Battlefield 3 with Frostbite 2 will not support XP or DX9, only DX11.
I checked it up on google and I found it out to be true, Battlefield 3 will only support Vista, Windows 7, DX11 and DX10. I find this suprisingy seeing as a lot of people are still XP (7 here myself.) and couldn't this cut into the PC sales for the game?
What do you guys think?
why do we have to upgrade to a PS3? my PS2 works just fine, why'd they stop making games for it? upgrading to a new console is so expensive, they should just keep making everything for my PS2
they said that becuase, BF3 will be for console so now they don't need to upgrade thier PC.Charcharo said:CJackson95 said:hmmm, good job I have an Xbox360\shootthebandit said:this is why console gaming is so much easier. i salute you PS3 and i also salute my fellow consolers on the 360, thanks for our dedicated, purpose built and user friendly software
You do know that your consoles use DX9 only?
And that we have been using XP for 9 years. Thats almost 2 console generations.
And I can run almost all XP games on a Windows 7.
But you guys are doing something useful, optimization. Many game engines aren't optimised. To make them work on a XboX devs understand that optimization > Crysis graphics. Source engine and ID TECH 4 are very well optimized. So are most console engines.
So in mu mind devs should start shelling money for optimization rather than graphics. Metro 2033 was realtively optimized, but it could have been better.
L4D2/Wolfenstein look fucking incredible when we consider the requirements. We have to thank cansoles and those tech geniuses at Valve/Id.
Thats the beautiful thing about PCs WE CAN just about every operating system is emulatable once the technology makes a jump, DOSBOX is far more stable then the original dos systems ever where for one.Korten12 said:becuase we can't stick with xp forever.nightfish said:erm why?Korten12 said:yeah same, ppl really need to move on and go to 7.oplinger said:I think it's a good call. DX9 is getting dated. DX10 even runs smoother now. It isn't the first time a company has ditched the old to utilize the new.
well that put it nicely and bluntly.icyneesan said:If your gonna PC game, your gonna have to upgrade. It's not like its hard, just safe up some money, go buy it from a store, shut up, and install.
If XP users can complain about no support anymore, can I complain that they don't support Windows 95 anymore?
NO - because its old. Now STFU and give Microsoft your money.
