What I don't get is why they had to piggyback on Battlefront nostalgia for this Star Wars Battlefield game, last I checked both Star Wars and Battlefield are popular enough that 'Battlefield: Star Wars' would have sold gangbusters without leaving people wanting a new Battlefront game out in the cold

I'm done. I'm 100% done.
and it costs almost as much as the game itself because of course it does

Is that the Battefront game I've been waiting for? Hell no, not even close. Is this the best Battlefield game I've played with a star wars skin? Yes.

First thing is the immersion. On Sullust, you have a massive space battle going on above, explosions going off from other battlefields, and the sounds of your battlefield. I felt like I was in a warzone. Graphics are decent, nothing to write home about and I also had a few textures that had to load. From what I can see, ammo no longer exists. Everything just seems to be on a cooldown timer. Balance needs work really bad on the AT-AT stage, rebels will die pretty much nonstop.

All in all, this is a fun Battlefield game. Might have upgraded from abomination to something I'll buy at thirty dollars. But this is not a good Battlefront game and really should not even be using the name.
I dont get why people call it Battlefield with a Star Wars skin.

Have you played Battlefield before?

Battlefield has classes. Battlefield doesn't have random powerups. Battlefield vehicles can be jumped in and out of as needed. Battlefield doesn't have ridiculous cooldowns that allow people to spam grenades like they're grenade dispensing robots. Battlefield actually explains its mechanics and there's a good balance between vehicles/infantry/air power. Battlefield actually rewards aiming, unlike this game where aiming isn't actually a thing and firing from the hip is paradoxically more accurate and doesn't slow you down.

This is absolutely not Battlefield, if it was I would have enjoyed it more.
Very much this. When I see these comparisons, I wonder if people have played ANY of the games in question. From Battlefront right through to Battlefield, and onto the beta.

It's not like Battlefield. It uses the same engine, but it actually looks good.

Apart from that, it's stripped all the way down and simplified. You're not dealing with drop, destruction, classes, medics, revives and health boxes, ammo, squads (Only the Partner system). Walker Assault vaguely resembles the Titan mode on 2142, but that was a Conquest mode with the titan, whereas this has the Walker moving across the map removing old capture points.

And if you want it to look like the old Battlefront, switch to third person. Even the run animation looks similar.

It's like a more modern, stripped down, scenic version of Battlefront, and most of the stuff that's been cut is stuff that's been cut from Battlefront, not Battlefield.

Not to discount the amount of stuff cut from Battlefront, but the list (that you did point out) of stuff cut from Battlefield is really extensive too. Its like they mashed Battlefront and Battlefield together then took out nearly everythin that made both games interestin then left us with this blandy generic mush of a game.

I was enjoying the hell out of it, to be perfectly honest. Ran brilliantly. Felt nice. Looked amazing. If a couple of friends decide to get it, I will happily go along with that and sink some hours into it.

I'd say that's a fair assessment. I was pretty disappointed with a lot of the stuff they cut out, that the vehicles don't take off and land, I actually liked the space battle stuff and was looking forward to planet-space battles, and the AI filler enemies were neat. And Galactic Conquest should definitely make a comeback.

It just never really feels like Battlefield when you're playing it though, which is probably for the best for me.

I think it's basically really smooth. There are no rough edges, nothing interesting or particularly novel. It works, and honestly, that was enough for me. It's a pretty game that you sort of sink mindlessly into, and that has some appeal. Just not at the price they're asking, with all the other content cut.
