Battlefront III - CANCELLED!

Wow, I've never heard about a new game for the first time and heard that it's been cancelled in the same day. Even if it wasn't really cancelled, it's still weird.

BF3 was not cancelled.

Let me straighten this out. FREE RADICAL DESIGN was downsized too much. They COULD NOT DEVELOP BOTH TimeSplitters 4 and BattleFront 3. So, REBELLION TOOK OVER THE STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 3 mission.

Canceled already? Wasn't it just announced less than a month ago? I hate this economy.

Blame Free Radical and their pet project, Haze, more than the economy. If Haze was a half decent game it wouldn't have been a bullet in their companies skull.

In another topic about the downfall of Free Radical, it was pointed out truthfully that Haze didn't lose Free Radical anything - they get paid to develop, then publishers are the ones making the money from the sales. Haze cost the publisher money, not FR.

What caused their downfall was a lack of viable IP ideas. No viable ideas mean no publishers will pick them up. No publisher means no money for the dev team. They probably knew they were boned if they didn't offer some viable ideas about the time they started developing Haze.

No, but seriously, turn it off. It's hard to read and makes a bad first impression on any forum. Otherwise, welcome to the Escapist. Nobody really knows what's going on with Battlefront III. This thread was originally made in January when Free Radical dropped it. Just sit tight and there should be some news shortly.
