It never really occurred to me until it was suggested much later by other people.
And that was in Dead or Alive 2, when it first came out for the Dreamcast.
I'm generally not a graphics whore, but I was 9, okay? And I thought it was fucking amazing, and that the girls were pretty.
Also, Shenmue looked fucking amazing and come to think of it, I really liked Nozomi.
But there's a lot of them, countless, and I've had attractions for several characters from everything from Soul Calibur to Diablo II to Unreal.
Anyway, I have a soft spot for Samus, Jade, and Faith.

I wouldn't say I've ever had the hots for a video game character, but some of them can be quite photogenic, to the point where you might find yourself asking: "How the hell did they give a bat so much T&A?"
I've always have an active imagination, and suffice to say such imagery poses an interesting mental contradiction. The proportions are actually all wrong, but they've nonetheless managed to convey a certain attraction. It begs an interesting mystery, doesn't it?
Don't get me wrong. Like I said, I never actually "had the hots" for a video game character, Rouge the Bat included. I've never actually sought a commitment in this regard [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/96341-Japanese-Man-Marries-Videogame-Girlfriend]. (Granted, it's a big Internet, I wouldn't be surprised to find people who do, especially if their libido is riding high, e.g. puberty or early adolescence.)
Another somewhat weird example on a different tangent would be to say (truthfully) that I was more "smitten" by Misty or May from Pokemon than I ever was by Rouge. That would be even worse in a way (those characters are supposed to be, like, 10) but then they aren't really drawn like they're ten - I went to college with girls who had less definition. That's anime for you.
That said, again, there's a difference between finding a design attractive and genuinely "having the hots" for it. I mean, they were designed to be attractive, there's nothing weird about finding attractive something that was drawn to be interpreted that way. I'm just not so very... young... as to be deluded into really wanting them.
I'm also deliberately finding somewhat strange examples (though there are stranger examples I can't say it applied to me) because if you're going to talk about having the hots for video game characters attractive you might as well work the weird angle. Simply pointing out any old hardbody in a game (e.g. any of the obvious Capcom girls like the ones that ended up in Dead Or Alive Beach Volleyball) is too easy - they imitate real life too much to say they're definitively video game based.

When I was a little kid, I thought Amy Rose was the hottest damn girl ever. Other than that, not really that I can think of.
