I've got a goatee and it makes me look older - even at 28, clean shaven I could probably pass for 20. Had it for a couple of years now.

But, I love shaving. The smell of the foam and the aftershave lotion is just really nice. Add that to how nice it feels to run your hand over your face and have it be completely smooth.
The upkeep of trimming my goatee when it becomes too unruly is easier than a full shave - I always had trouble on my upper lip and around the corners of my mouth.

Still, if growing a beard didn't make me look like a tramp then I'd probably have a full beard right now. Working in retail it's hard to experiment with facial hair, since I always have to be presentable. If I had black hair I definitely would have tried to get away with a Hitler 'stache for a couple of days though. :D

Oh, I'd also like one of these:

No. Why? Cause doing so would require taking a fuckload of testosterone for a long-ass time, and no thank you!!

I tend to go through phases, ive rocked a beard for the last year and then recently shaved t off, just to keep things different. I find that keeping one is more work than i thought, and often when i trimmed it it just didnt look quite right.

No I don't, though I want a stubble beard. I just have very little facial hair and am about 5 years of getting anything closely resembling a fully-bearded face (I have a dozen or so chin hairs .... yay me!)

I don't have a proper beard, but I do have some hefty sideburns. My chin refuses to grow anything, and my puny moustache doesn't yet connect to the sideburns, but I'm getting there.

Sometimes, when I'm lazy, I let the neck-area grow wild. One time, when I had a bit of a neck-beard and some small sideburns, I found myself running late and so I had only time to tidy up the front of my face. The neck-beard and sideburns remained, and I was asked by at least six people if I was an orthodox jew (I was traveling, that day).

Since then, I've tried to keep my neck-beard out of the way.

The main reason I have a beard is to hide my massive chin. If i shave i look like some sort of mutant aquatic mammal. hence the profile name

I, like all true men, have a beard, and have had one since my middle teens.
Primarily I like the look of my beard, amongst its many qualities, it adds a few years of age to my otherwise eternally youthful face. Secondarily, shaving is boring, and since shaving begets more shaving, I try to avoid it.
With the size its currently at, it also makes sleeping on my face more comfortable.

I usually have a 3 days' old beard because I can't be bothered to shave more often than twice a week. And it doesn't matter :)

I'm undecided on beards. I'm 19 and in my experience, girls in their late teens/early 20s hate beards. I've always liked being clean shaven and I've got a mate whos beard grows rapidly and his gf prefers him clean shaven. But I do think that beards add a rugged, manly, older look, I just couldn't give 2 shits about looking rugged. I do like goatees though, I mean who doesn't want to look like Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man?
