Beards. Do you have one? Why/Why not?

Yes, that is why we do. We don't want to look like little kids playing with our hoses or something. I look like I'm about 19 when I shave mine off, so I like to have one. Not everyone on my dept. does, but I think most of us do. Some of the officers have goatees since they will not be going into the fires anymore anyways.

Yeah, I've contemplated attempting to rock a mustache at work so that I comply with our facial hair policies concerning SCBA use, but I've got a sneaky feeling I'd just look like a pedophile with one. However, without facial hair I look like I'm a teenager still. Do I look like a dork, or like a stalker? Hmmmm.

My face goes through phases. I only shave like once a month, so, it is kinda like, stubble to kinda neat, to stubble, to kinda neat. Repeats like that.

Depends. Im kind of sloppy at shaving, so I tend to run around with a grunge:y scruff/stubble most of the time. The thing is, I don't have that coarse facial hair and most of the hairs are of a different colour than the rest of my natural dark hair, so sometimes I just shave the whole thing off when I get sick of seeing it.

Wouldn't shave for any other reason than that though...

My opinion on them is generally favorable, depending on the style on the guy involved. And, no matter wot, they need to be well maintained--trimmed, clean, etc. Some guys look very nice with them, some don't.

I do, I can shave anywhere on my head but when I get to my chin it hurts like hell!

I don't have one because I straight up can't grow one. I also probably wouldn't look good with a beard.

I got on the subject of discussing this with friends today. In addition to deciding that beards make you more manly, we got on the subjects of why or why not we don't have facial hair.

My reason for the beard is twofold. For starters, I highly dislike shaving. My least favorite daily ritual. The other reason I have a beard is because I have a rather young looking, round face. Even though I'm 6'8, when clean-shaven, people think I'm at least two to three years younger than I am. The beard makes me look older, plus it's a slightly different color than the rest of my hair, which I rather like.

So, fellow Escapists, What are your thoughts on facial hair in general?

I usually have like half a beard cause I'm lazy and don't shave that often, and because of that I can't really grow a proper beard yet

Manly men have manly beards to show how manly they are! That is my opinion on beards
