I think I'm finally starting to see a reason for the "franchise character" hate, it comes from the "lets take this old character and transpose him into a different setting" whereas a new character in that new setting might be more well recieved.

Well, I can see that the release date is for spring 2009, not even a year after sonic unleashed, so the sword aside, this game will be crap but it will be better than unleashed.
