I'm sure many of you already know that Robert Bowling was answering questions from COD fans most of yesterday or Reddit.

Here's a link to all of his answers:

www.reddit.com/user/fourzerotwo

http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/hwkjy/iam_robert_bowling_creative_strategist_on_modern/

There are a lot of encouraging and honest words here.

I'm most excited to hear that OMA, Commando, overpowered explosives and Second Chance are all being removed from the game - because we as players don't like them and have voiced it to them.

I like the sound of them addressing the killwhoring situation too. It would be cool to get some help capping flags sometimes.

They are also nerfing the knife somewhat, considering dedis for PC and most importantly - admitting they fucked up with MW2. He also talks about plans to patch MW2 and COD4 which are currently in pretty bad way. This remains to be seen.

He also joked about the lack of dinosaurs in MW2, so expect to see MW3 jump on that train too.

Anyway, thought I would share it with you guys. IW get a lot of slack but the lack of post launch MW2 support probably all had to do with the company falling apart. Let's hope Sledgehammer have kicked new life into the series.

Anyone pleased by this news, or do you remain skeptical?

And please, let's avoid the 'DERP COD SUCKS' answers. This thread is for fans to talk about what they hope for.

I know he listens to us. If you looked at the twitter page asking what we would like to see in Modern Warfare 2, almost everything that got a high rating was in the game.

Nukes, AC-130, striker, AA12, enhanced melee range, care packages, thermal scopes, silencers on snipers, winter maps, predator missiles, spec ops, akimbo, EVERYTHING.

Robert Bowling seems like a good guy to me, to be honest. And while I thought Modern Warfare 2 was probably the weakest game in the series, you can tell they put effort into it, and actually cared about our opinions.

Yes I remain skeptical. And I'll remain skeptical till the game comes out. Black Ops tried to fix the worst offenders of Modern Warfare 2 but ended up with terrible problems of its own like the AUGMAS and 74u.

Even then why should have to fork over 60 bucks for balance fixes that should have been picked up by QA in the first place? Or if not in the QA then the butt load of metrics we will have to pay Activision to see. It should be a free patch. Limit the OMA switches per-life. Remove the temporary invincibility on second chance.

Considering dedicated servers for PC? Why should that even have to be "considered?" is it not cheaper for Activision to let players rent and run the servers? All Bowling has done here is show how far out of touch IW and Activision are right now. 60 bucks for a balance patch, yeah.

It's in the campaign. Not everything in the campaign makes it to multiplayer.

MW2 didn't have snowmobiles in the multiplayer now, did it?

So they're nerfing the knife...... the only weapon that I actually have fun using? If it's a big nerf, a big chunk of my interest in the multiplayer has been lost.

It'll make far more people happy than upset.

I'm glad it's being nerfed. The knife in COD is waaay overpowered and lets people get the stupidest, cheapest, even accidental kills. It's maddening seeing someone lunge trough your bullets for an auto-lock one hit kill even though the knife didn't even connect with you half the time.

And yes, accidental panic knifing does exist, I did it myself hundreds of times before switching to tactical.

I don't doubt that they do listen to the fan base somewhat but for me the series has been dead since MW2. While it's easy to jump on the HATE train against Activision (and they do bring it upon themselves especially from PC gamers) My reasons are much more simple...boredom. For me the games haven't expanded in the right ways since COD4 especially in the multiplayer which should have grown in size, instead it seems that most maps get smaller with each COD game and the map packs get more and more expensive.

I've been very Anti-DLC for a while now and think its way overused and map packs are almost ALWAYS overpriced, for the price of a single Call of Duty map pack I can buy whole games off Steam or pre-owned in a retail store. The only WORSE deal than map packs are character skins which by their very nature are overpriced (unless like 20 pence a piece)

I do give Infinity Ward credit for making a shooter that FEELS good, very high fps on consoles and a very good control scheme which makes the gameplay very fluid but they have an unatural tendency to break game balance over their knees. Most of the additions to MW2 (even though the community asked for them) Broke the damn game, Commando, AC130, Dual Shotguns, increased Aim assist, these features cheapened the gaming experience and eventually I could feel that instead of playing for fun I was grinding.

Anyway everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm not going to attack them for being a continued fan of Call of Duty but I thought I'd just give some backbone to my reasons for NOT liking the series anymore.

I am personally glad that its gone because it makes it so shotguns are worth a damn. There is no point to using them in cod when someone can just jump at you from 10 feet away and get an instant kill.

I saw a great suggestion by one of the comunity members there: Keep quickscoping, but just give it it's own playlist and exclude it from all other playlists.

Robert Bowling seems dead sound to me. I was really happy when he said he was a hardcore SnD and Domination player and wanted to remove killwhoring in objective games and actually put the emphasis on the objectives.

Also, Survival sounds awesome. Main reason I'm buying the game.

But... they're not removing martyrdom?

That's the only ability that I really, really think the game would be better without. I can't be the only one that thinks rewarding people's deaths with a cheap, no-skill kill is a stupid idea. At least with second chance and the like you had to aim and shoot someone to get the kill.

No Commando or Second Chance? THANK GOD!

To be fair Second Chance is a really annoying perk but Treyarch made it 10 times worse in Black Ops by allowing people who had it on to be revived.

I'm really glad to see that they are removing Commando and Second Chance and also addressing the K/D whoring problem. It may make me buy the game for more than just the campaign.

That's all well and good, but I'm just still annoyed that this happened in the first place. If they'd done a Beta in the first place, most of those issues would've been fixed.

I expected more from the people who developed the game-breaker-free CoD4 on the first go.
I'm also still annoyed that there was.... I don't know, 1 or so, game fixes for MW2. I remember the 1887's being fixed. That's all I remember, everything else is still broken/overpowered.

And yes, I'm still very skeptical of MW3. It looks exactly like MW2, and for that I feel insulted. It seems like they haven't put any effort into MW3, while Battlefield 3 looks beautiful.
I'm not going to get MW3, at all, unless the reviews are in the universally stellar. I feel really let down by what I've seen of the game at E3.

Battlefield 3 looks set to become the new benchmark for not just FPSs, but destruction engines, animation, and audio quality, across the board.
Modern Warfare 3 had a Holographic sight with an extra scope.

What's even worse is that this has already been done; in Black Ops there was the variable scope, which is much simpler to zoom in and had 3 levels of zoom.

According to him, they're working on seeing if they can implement both the IWnet and the dedicated servers, but they're not certain yet.

OT: I was just amazed how he answered the question on why someone should get MW3 over BF3, namely that they'll both be amazing but different, and that you should get both of them if you're a shooter fan.

Was not expecting that.

Well, I had already heard they were "considering" dedicated servers for PC ...

I meant for everybody.
It's a competitive game, there shouldn't be a host advantage (or disadvantage in some games' cases, due to the host being overtaxed).

At the very least, they've got to have dedicated servers for tournaments like MLG, right?

Imo the last good COD game was COD4, which is one of the best fps's ever imo. MW2 had too many problems even though it was pretty good. I'm Battlefield fan nowadays but I will buy MW3 later if it turns out to be an awesome game. Otherwise I won't bother. And yes they listen to their customers but we shall see the results. I'm really sceptical after MW2 and Black Ops.

And I will maintain that developers should not listen to their fans, too many cooks spoil the broth, try to get everyones idea in there and you will end up with something either horribly gray or horribly broken.

They need to get a new guy with a proper idea and run with it.
