Is this supposed to be a commercial product, because I could sort of understand if this is merely a tech demo.
Even so, I don't really get what they wanted to do with the redesign. Part of the appeal of the original design for Conker was having your typical cutesy mascot character also be a foul-mouthed drunken little shit. Maybe the new design is meant to be more reflective of his personality?

More evidence to the fact that Microsoft never was a game company, and most of it's success is from outside companies with their logo stamped on everything. Whenever they have creative control, things go south quick. Also who designed that, who though "Lets take the original design and shove it through Blue Sky studios early 2000's design", who thought this was a lucrative idea?

It is not that I am against redesigns, but this looks horrible. It looks like they based the design on a cheap Conkers string puppet instead of using the previous game as a model. In a way, it looks like the device can't handle much computation, so they had to return to the details of the N64 character...

Well, looking at the video at least they are trying to do something new and interesting with the tech. That is likely to turn into a horrible game, as the level design of your room sucks, and the gimmick will swiftly overstay its welcome but at least something (mostly technical stuff) will have been learned by the devs. This also sounds like the sort of thing that will disappoint in what you can actually do with it.
As for the character. Not what people were hoping for, I think. I haven't played much of Rare but I think I have just enough insight into how their fans think, to guess that this is not what they wanted out of a new conker game. Something about atmosphere, adventure and a sense of humour that seems to be lacking from this new project altogether. The other comments seem to confirrm this expectation of mine.

It seems the the Young Conker get inspiration from the Raccon of Guardians of Galaxy? I don't know.
Maybe that why the developers call him Young Conker. Maybe he is more innocent and not a selfish smartass.

As I said in my previous post, I think they want a friendlier version of Conker be acceptable for kids to play. But cause they knew about the fans of the old Conkers games, they decided to call him "Young Conker".Chimpzy said:

Fans of a beloved franchise won't respond to a new developer's changes with an open mind unless the developer has already proven they understand what made the franchise great.
That said, not in a million years would I put my money on starved Rareware fans responding positively to their beloved icons being used as a way to draw attention to the Kinect.

I never played the originals, but I thought that Banjo and Kazooie looked alright in Nuts & Bolts. A bit boxy in places, but they still looked like the originals to me. Could have been way worse.Silvanus said:
