Well aged: Mario. Still just as fun jumping around now as it was before.

Poorly aged: ... I'll get back to you on that. I don't remember the exact name but there was once this Digimon fighting game I had a while back for the Playstation. I tried playing it a good few years back and found my eyes promptly assaulted by the most horribly aged graphics I have ever seen. My eyes were in literal danger of bleeding profusely after trying to play just a single match. Ugh, just thinking about it makes my eyes hurt...
Digimon Rumble Arena? I love that game!
That sounds about right... I know the final unlockable character was the boss of the game; some skeleton-type guy with scythe arms or something. He was quite simply made of awesome.
That was Reapermon.
Reapermon... Really? Really? That's such a lame name >.<

Ahh, despite his name he was purely awesome. All this reminiscing makes me want to play the game again though, which is bad considering the horrible eye-soar it is now.

Starcraft and diablo 2 both aged nicely, as did a few FPS games like Half-life, Halo, and AvP2. a game in the middle for me would be Final fantasy tactics. the core gameplay is still fun, but the clunky camera and bad translation just make it feel old.

Not so much- Resident evil 1-3. Those goddam controls. Say what you will about the "horror" aspects of the game, but atleast modern games seldom have control issues, something a LOT of older games have.
I disagree, the over-the-shoulder quick-time-event based controls of the later games are far worse than the fixed-camera turn-then-go controls of 0-3.

On topic:

Best aged - Superman 64. It's the same quality it's always been right?

Worst aged - Halo. They haven't changed the controls and they weren't smooth when they started.

The games that age best are stylized, 8 bit and 16 bit have aged pretty well. Link to the Past still looks good along with many games, Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger come to mind.

The worst aging have been PS1 and N64 that tried to push realism with polygons, Metal Gear Solid (great game) looks laughably bad now compared to Symphony of the Night which still looks good.

Games will progressively look more realistic, but art is timeless.

agreed, how I ever navigated around with the little yellow buttons as movement remains a mystery to me....

best aged: sonic adventures 2, still fun!
worst aged: all those GBA games targeted to girls like "Barbie horse camp" and "Bratz design studio"

'scuse me, but you can't compare a 2D with a 3D.

OT: There are way too many games for me to say have aged quite well, but I may as well fling in the title Devil May Cry just as an example.

What hasn't aged for me is Resident Evil 1 through 4. (On an unrelated but worthy note - 5 can go fuck itself for reasons Yahtzee stated).

Worst aged: people say the on rails shooting games such as time crisis have aged badly but I'm a big fan of those, so I disagree. However, I do think that arcade racers such as Ridge Racer have aged badly, due to the demand of realistic driving games.

Best aged: The Close Combat/Homeworld series. I still play both regularly.

Worst aged: the Diablo series. It just feels so... generic now.

Ocarina of Time and Morrowind have aged terribly. But you can at least mod the heck out of Morrowind.
..Morrowind.. Aged.. Terribly?
DOES NOT COMPUTE
Seriously, morrowind has aged perfectly and beats the hell out of most free-roam RPG's to date.
Well, the controls feel a bit stiff now, but it's still a great RPG, so it hasn't aged all that much.

Great: Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Timesplitters 2 (got this one recently), Metal Gear Solid.
Bad: Hmm... Grand Theft Auto I guess. While Vice City is awesome, the other ones are a bit hard to play, especially with the controls (on PS2). I might get the series on PC.

Best-Super Mario Bros. It was awesome almost 30 years ago, and it is awesome now.

Worst-Super Smash Bros. or Goldeneye, it was amazing for the day, but I can't bare to play it these days.

Doom. Even when I'm at Uni, I'll load up the dosbox and have myself a great ol round of zombie kiling.

The worst, would probably have been the Jet Li game. Abosultely dreadfull.

Best aged? Donkey Kong Country 2 and the first Banjo-Kazooie. Those are probably the only games I can go back and play at any time and they still feel as relatively fresh as they did when I first played them. Star Fox 64 is a close runner up as is Super Mario World and the original Sonic game.

Worst Aged? Ocarina of Time. Great game when I first played it. But after going back to it after playing Wind Waker and Twilight Princess I find it too outdated. It's still an okay game though. Just hasn't held up well in my opinion.

Well aged: Starcraft. I will continue playing that game until I can get my hands on the sequel.

Poorly aged:................................
hm......

The trouble is, I don't really play poorly aged games... um...

I have to give it to Harmony of Dissonance (GBA). I still kid of play it, but the music really grates on my ears,

The best aged I think is Metal Gear Solid, for PSX. Revalutionary, fun to play, still interesting, and not to bad on cutscenes.
FFVIII is good too.
The worst, I think would be the orginal Metal Gear and metal Gear 2; Solid Snake, also I'll agree that FFVII is horriable. The graphics fail, the characters fail, so yea.
