Best Aged: Starcraft, Freelancer (amazing graphics when it came out), Halo: CE for the PC, Call of Duty (1+2), Warcraft 3.
Worst Aged: Vampires the Masquerade - Bloodlines (I loved that game, but damn if the graphics weren't jaded the minute it was released), Oblivion (groundbreaking at the time, can't hold a candle to anything released now), Diablo 2 (gameplay more than graphics).

Best Aged: Final Fantasy VIII. I think that the cutscene graphics were amazing for a PS1 game, and the in-game graphics weren't too much of an eyesore (not as much as say, Final Fantasy VII).
Worst Aged: GTA III. I know it's what started the whole free-roaming sandbox gameplay thing, but it just looks horrible now.

Best aged: Timesplitters Future Perfect and Golden Sun The Lost Age 
Worse aged: Red Alert 2, at the time it was the most awesome rts ever, but newer rts games are just much better in terms of gameplay and graphics.

The one that is still sexy despite of being an old man is Deus Ex, I replayed it not long ago and despite the blocky graphics and depression-inducing animations I could still play and enjoy it.
(Tribes 2 is another good example).
I have no idea why, but Star Wars: Republic Commando aged horribly (to me at least). I reinstalled it recently and the animations were so horrible I just couldn't play it again ("it burnss usss"). I'm sure there are worse examples, but this is the one that first came to mind.

Why? Games have been in both. Atari 2600 have not aged well, NES is hit or miss, SNES have aged well. PS1 has not, PS2 is mix and PS3 we'll wait and see.Cid SilverWing said:
Games that live within limits and focus on art age better. 2D is classic example of this aging well. Many DS titles stack up better than PSP because of this emphasis.
In 3D you have cel shading (Jet Grind Radio has aged better than games came out later, such as Doom 3). I'll guess Wind Waker will age better than Twilight Princess as well.
Anything that pushes realism and 3D was beginning of realism in games, will not age well. Crysis will be laughed at in 2020. We can always make prettier textures and higher polygon counts, we cannot nearly as easily replicate art.
Best aged - Final Fantasy VI, that game is perfect for what it is, a sprite based blocky thing of gooey awesome.

Do you really mean that? I mean I'll respect your opinion, but I definitely don't think they aged poorly at all. There are hundreds of games that have aged worse.Souplex said:

Lots of games have aged greatly. Most games from the 16 bit era are still just as fun today as they were then. As for games that aged badly, the original Tomb Raider games jump to mind. They were impressive fifteen years ago simply for being in 3D, these days they're unplayable dreks. The controls are stiff and akward, the camera is bad, the level design is either confusing or just plain downright awful, and worst of all you practically need a strategy guide if you want to play it. Unless you actually LIKE exploring ridiculously oversized levels looking for small easy-to-miss trinkets that the game makes no effort to point you towards.

I think we can all agree that worst by far is FFVII even though it was favourite game it was Squares first 3d title and the cut scenes were good so it was a journey into unknown territory for them but it still did not do well.

best aged: one that stands out for me is any of the metal gear solid games. the first one is still a classic. GTA Vice City is the shit! I never finished gta 4 because the driving pissed me off alot. Vice City not only has great playability and writing, but it has the best soundtrack for a video game ever.
