Are you talking about Sam and Max Hit the Road here or the episodes? I think the episodes' voice acting have a lot to be desired over the original which has stellar performances from the leads in line with most of Lucasarts' classics.KrackleJack said:
I think the best voice acting I've heard in a game, across the board, is Psychonauts. It's all so perfectly in tune with the tone of the game and never comes off cheesy or badly timed. All the characters are superbly cast and are played with conviction and gusto. Go play.
The worst? Resident Evil, if only for the live action intro but more so for Barry Burton's gut busting one liners.
Uh, wut? Johnny Bosch has to be one of the most sporadic actors I know. He did great in Xenosaga, then turned around and did horrendous in Star Ocean 3 (horribad game anyway)Lord Raiyu said:

I cringed the first time I played Silent Hill, not cause it was scary, but cause the actor doing James was so horribly deadpan and devoid of any emotion. As an actress I wanted to petition him out of SAG, then I realized he likely wasn't in it in the first place.
Best? More of the same, Mass Effect, Bioshock, and basically anything from Valve, in particular TF2. And of course anything with John DiMaggio, I still want to have his babies.
Can't believe no one has mentioned Sacrifice. Possibly THE best vioce acting in a game. Some heavy hitters too with Tony Jay and Tim Curry. Also VERY good writing.
I would also mention Planescape: Torment, though there was little voice acting, what was there was damn good.
I will throw Gears 2 into the best and worst category. Some of the scenes between Dom and Marcus were very good, but then you have Dizy and Cole... could each of you please be more of a stereotype.

Half life 2, Mass Effect, Halo 3 for best, maybe. Worst, and yes, this is the worst, forever and always, don't deny it, if you've played it you'll know ACE COMBAT 6. Hideously awful writing and voice acting.

The best and worst is in the same game. The original resident evil! It is so bad, yet oddly hilarious. The voice acting in every other resident evil game is not as funny, just really crap.
