Bourne trilogy by Robert Ludlum is my favourite series by far, with bourbe identity being the best of the 3.

I might have to give a look at discworld and Fahrenheit 451 considering the amount of times they have been mentioned.

Ender's Game is just genius, I know it receives criticism as some people equate Ender with Hitler but as someone who felt the same in school (save for all the death and genocide of course) this is the perfect book. At the end I felt so emotionally drained. Orson Scott Card created a masterpiece with this one.
I'm surprised no one said this earlier. Ender's Game is just amazing, and following books and the Bean spin-offs aren't as good, but they're still good books. Orson Scott Card is the best.

Some include the Hitchhiker guide to galaxy, Halo novels (sometimes), Watchmen, Red Dwarf and when I was younger I read the series of unfortunate events.

Fantasy: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss AND all of R.A. Salvatore's works.
Humor: Good ol' John Hodgman
General: Tom Robbins is quite the win.

The Sharpe series he kicks arse
Awesome avatar. Just had to comment on Gibbs.

On topic: it's hard for me to narrow it down to just one. I love all of Philip K. Dick's books and short stories, but standouts have to be A Scanner Darkly, The Man in the High Castle (the source of my screen name and gamertag), Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, and Flow My Tears the Policeman Said. Apart from that, I love Karin Lowachee's too-brief series, beginning with Warchild. I truly believe she reinvented the space opera and brought it into a darker, more human place.

Outside of SF, I'm a fan of Hemingway, particularly The Sun Also Rises. And I adore the Sherlock Holmes books.

The Pendragon series by D.J. Machale. It's about a teenager sucked into a cosmic battle for the universe and the ten territories that make it up. Its got some really interesting plots, my favorite is the third book which is an imaginative little story involving the hindenburg disaster

In order of preference
The original Dune books
Wheel of Time
Animal Farm
Discworld books
Catcher in the Rye

Anyone here have any recommendations? Ender's Game is on my list, I've already read Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy and I'm going to borrow my dads copy of American Gods soon.

Well I just started reading RA Salvatore the Dark Elf Trilogy and I like it it more than any other series.
Fixed. Drow aren't night elves. They're elves that come from the Underdark, which is the caves and such beneath the surface of Faerun. The books are okay.
