The Wheel of Time series.
The Albion trilogy.
The Twilight saga.
The Dice Man.(really recommend)
And half a dozen other books I can't remember right now.

hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and the diskworld series
Seconded, with Discworld topping it, Hitchhikers gets a bit weak to the end with the actual ending being absolutely rubbish. 1984, Animal Farm and The Swarm get honerable mentions.

Twiligh... *breaks into uncontrollable laughter* ahh... it's funny because it's so ridiculous, but I'd have to say Thank You For Smoking, much different then the movie as far as the ending goes.
Ever read the books? Or are you just adopting the rest of the Internet's view on it?

I really don't read much so all I can say is Harry Potter and Skullduggery Pleasent. I really need to read more.

Edit: Yeah the Disk World stuff is also awesome.

Don't really have a favourite I generally favour whatever books I'm reading at the time.

But as so far Baroness Orczy hasn't been mentioned the Scarlet Pimpernel books are worth a read.

Also needing a mention; Articulate Jim - A Search For Something by Mr Ben Croshaw
always makes me laugh

Yes, my girlfriend convinced me to read the first book, needless to say I wanted to burn it. And if you didn't notice I do read books, I put a book that I read on there and I could put a lot more.

Not the best per se but the Myst trilogy is one of the best series I've ever read. Shocking for books based on a game but they really went above and beyond the source material to flesh out a pretty amazing universe.

My favorite book is easily 'Tunnel in the Sky' by Robert A. Heinlein. If you haven't read it already, I suggest you do.

I never asked if you read books, just if you'd read Twilight. 'Couse everyone just condemns it without having read it.

I consider "The Brothers Karamazov" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky unmatched.

But credit for the best SF book - my regular province - goes to "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes. I don't think I've ever felt so moved by a book.

Best series? A few years back, I'd say either LOTR or the Discworld. I don't think I have any favourites now.
