I would've loved to have started this thread 3 days ago, but I had to renew my comcast contract. So there you go.

Anyway, onto the thread. As we enter into the new decade, there are countless people out there making top 10 lists on what they think their favorite video games, anime or movies are. I am no different. But right now, I want to focus on the animation that has truly been spectacular and left an impression on our sorry, mushy, mountain-dew soaked minds. This thread is a tribute to the greatest cartoons of the decade.

DA RULES
1: No anime.
2: No adult cartoons (simpsons, family guy).
3: Each poster gets 1 choice. Choose wisely, and say why this show predominates over everything else in the past 10 years.
And 4: I will keep a running tally on the amount of votes each cartoon gets, and keep it up here in the main post.

So post! I know there are Escapist members who still watch cartoons. If I can do it, so can you.

For me, I gotta say that Megas XLR was frigging amazing. The fights, the humor, the sexy ladies (you know what I'm talking about) all made it incredibly awesome, yet still suitable for kiddies.

Invader Zim: 12 votes
Spongebob: 11 votes
Avatar: TLA: 4 votes
Megas XLR: 3 votes
Fairly Odd Parents: 3 votes
Powerpuff Girls: 2 votes
Megas XLR: 2 votes
Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack: 2 votes
Courage the Cowardly Dog: 2 votes
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Batman: The Brave and the Bold: 1 vote
The Secret Show: 1 vote
Ben 10: 1 vote
Spectacular Spiderman: 1 vote

EDIT 1: As the first page ends, I have to agree that pretty much everything on this list was a really good show. All except Flapjack. That show creeps me right the fuck out. Also, the reason Spongebob is still on the list is because even though it was made in 1999, it kept running throughout almost all of the 0s.

'Invader Zim' of course.

I'm not sure 'The Simpsons' can still be considered adult considering how dumbed down it's become.

Easy peasy: Spongebob Sqarepants. It's been running since about 1997 and still going today. It's fantastic. I'm nearly 20, started watching it age 7 and still love it today, I still enjoy the homour of it, the characters, the art style, the entire concept. I just think it's a fantastic cartoon, one of the greatest

Definitely Spongebob, I've always loved how it has humor aimed at both kids and adults.

Spongebob, if that counts.

It's always had a place in my heart.
Couldn't think of one until you mentioned it. I'm going to have to go the same route, Spongebob it is.

It was a late-comer but: The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.
Good animation style, crazy faces, humor so ridiculously psychotic, trippy, and fucked.

I liked Ed, Edd, Eddy alot but I can't go back and rewatch them. They're just not entertaining anymore.
Courage the Cowardly Dog is also a good candidate, because of psychotic, trippy, and fucked humor.

Edit:Spongebob was entertaining only in certain episodes to me. Used to be a minor viewer and slight fan as a kid, "grew out" of it long before I left EEE.

Edit 2:Marvelous Misadventures is my favorite but Courage the Cowardly Dog and Billy and Mandy were damn good. Just sayin'. Throw in Megas XLR, Johnny Bravo and the original Clone Wars animated series for good cartoons as well.

I watched the Simpsons when I was a kid. I dont see it as an "adult" cartoon. But thats my opinion, of course.

OT: Invader Zim. Damn them for canceling that show.

Umm, shouldn't there be a rule about it being 10 years old or something?
I mean, Spongebob technically debuted in July '99...

Either way, my vote is for 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'
(There is a great deal of discussion about whether this show is Anime or Anime-Influenced, though consensus is the latter as it's not Japanese and the art-style is simply that of Asian imitation).

Why hasn't anyone said Avatar: The Last Airbender yet? that pretty much left everything else in the dust
This.
