Edit: So i checked all your replies and seriously? Nobody even thought to mention it? I mean come on. Sure all those things you guys mentioned are funny/true/hilarious/untrue/delusional/ etc, but you gotta admit the amount of projecting done by the GGers is totally on the same level.
How so? Despite claims to the contrary the general consensus of the movement is "be skeptical and confirm", not aGGro's "listen and believe".

Genuinely saw a group on Facebook that believed Ebola was chemically engineered by the American Government to wipe out black people. Yeah without a hint of irony, and there were a tonne of people falling over to agree with each other and call people who disagreed sheeple. I know there are tonnes of satrical groups on Facebook that do this kind of stuff, but this specific group of people genuinely have a huge inferiority complex.

Not gonna derail this thread, so please PM me if you feel like continuing this little discussion somewhere else. I will answer you tomorrow, since I am going back to work in a bit.

Wait wat? Ebola was engineered by the Americans to wipe out black people? Now that is just insane. I knew some people were just freaking insane, but that takes the bloody cake.

Doesn't a conspiracy theory require there to be an actual conspiracy?

Anyways, probably the funniest to me was a guy at my work who said, "If someone 'comes up with something' then you should believe them. They couldn't have just imagined it." Basically, he used this to justify his belief in vampires, aliens, zombies, werewolves, witches and wizards, and all other types of things. To make matters even worse, there were actually two guys there that believed in all of this (the other didn't have the same reasoning), and they thought that the government and various creatures were doing their best to cover it up. The funniest part is that they were both convinced that I was a wizard that just refused to perform magic in front of them. Yeah...I didn't work much that night. I was too busy laughing at them.

I also worked with a guy who worked as a youth pastor for a time, so he had to deal with troubled teens a lot. Apparently, he once met a girl who was a little too much into Twilight and was convinced that vampires were real and that the government was just covering that truth up. She even thought that her boyfriend was a vampire and was wondering how to deal with that "fact". My coworker still couldn't believe that he had ever had to have that conversation.

I still think the Moon Landing conspiracy is the best one ever devised. No other conspiracy has so many supporters, and has lasted so long, despite the overwhelming and complete evidence in opposition to it.

Look, a C shape on a rock. Whole moon landing is busted.

Captcha - She loves him. Another conspiracy?

Is there a Tumblr for that? it sounds rather.... exciting.

The Flat Earth Society Conspiracy Theory. There's a few different variations on this depending on which Flat Earth theorist you ask but my favourite is this one.

NASA are assuming the Earth is a globe when it's really flat. Due to this misunderstanding and the scientific implications of a flat Earth they have been unable to send anything into orbit, let alone reach the moon. To cover for their failures NASA have instead spent all of their budget on developing the technology needed to fake all space exploration.
Damn you. You beat me too it.
But you have left out some of the best parts, like how Antarctica doesn't actually exist, it's actually a wall of ice around the outside of the Earth (almost like The Wall). And did i mention that teams of American secret agents patrol it on snowmobiles? Because teams of American secret agents patrol it on snowmobiles.

Or the explanation for why there are different timezones when the world is disk shaped; apparently the sun operates like a spot light not the omni light that it should, only illuminating certain parts at a time. And this just so happens to work out exactly as if the Earth were round ... but it's not, its flat.

Or the explanation for why you can see the mast of a ship on the horizon before the hull; because light actually bends upwards at a rate that it just so happens to make the Earth seem round. Even though a large amount of their reasons for believing are based on a botched version of the bedford level experiment, and the conclusions reached within it are dependent upon light not bending upward.

Or the explanation of why flight times seem to be consistent with the distances give for a round Earth when the flat Earth map makes traveling around the planet at lower latitudes seem as if it would take much longer. The explanation, time moves faster around the outside so that it just so happens to make the Earth seem round ... but it's not, its flat.

My favourite must surely be one of the classics, like the moon landings being faked, or alien visits being hushed up X-Files style.

I couldn't nominate the ones that I've actually seen people supporting, like evolution or global warming being faked. They only evoke irritation and despair. And yet, faked moon landings would take far fewer people to be in on it than faked global warming... so if anything, they're even more implausible.

Titanic was deliberately sunk by switching her with her identical sister ship and crashing her into the iceberg. Everyone was supposed to live but they buggered up.

Which is why all the "rescue ship's" crew were asleep with the communications offline, extra safety precautions weren't taken and, the crown jewel, Titanic was only 2/3rds insured.

How has nobody mentioned Timecube?

The faked moon landing is classic, but the Birther one is also pretty awesome as well, not only for how retarded it is but also how many people believed it(Because OBAMA hates freedom!).

The Titanic an insurance job.
Gravity is a CIA plot to keep us on Earth.
Countries are a little bit closer than they tell you (You could walk to Moscow in half an hour).
Diana was killed by a shadowy cabal of British mug manufacturers.

Points to whichever person knows what these are from (and thus demonstrate their excellent taste in comedy) without cheating.

Cultural marxism is my recent favourite stupid conspiracy theory. Tied in with "secret organization of feminists seeking to discredit gamer culture".

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

Seriously, probably the most hilarious are the Flat Earther's. Aside from the whole, well, flat earth thing, they also believe that it's cheaper to organize a massive global conspiracy to control all space-related information for over 3000 years then run an actual space program.
