Discussion of the best character deaths in a show/movie/game, etc.

IMO it would be the deaths of Optimus Primal and Dinobot in Beast Wars. With Optimus Primal they had to redo the explosion three times to make sure he was dead.

Spike Spiegel of Cowboy Bebop. A fully adrenaline feuled rush through his former Syndicate's headquarters, only to reach the head honchoes, smile and chuckle, put up his hand, say "Bang" and fall to the ground.

Yes, I believe he died.

Oh too many choices! Qui-Gon Jinn, Bruce Willis in Armagendon(sp?), Gandalf the Grey, Sgt. Johnson from Halo 3(omg not sarge!!), Cpt. Keyes from Halo 1, Alenko/Williams from Mass Effect, Lambert from Splinter Cell: Double Agent, the list goes on for days!

My favorite would have to be Jesus though. We're all gonna die, He just went out saving the entire human race!!

Basically any computer controlled friendly characters who stand there as you shoot them in the face with the weakest gun you have repeatedly to which they reply "hmm thats unpleasant....i think i might die" then your only one simple reload away from another entertaining team death. prime example of this is fallout three

Seriously, no comparison. (That is, if you play starcraft at all)

I first saw this when I was 7 years old, and it's been haunting me ever since.

Deckson from Zone of the Enders, the fist of mars.

A man who knew of his death and went out how he lived. Spouting extremely depressing philosophy.

Also how has no one said Areith yet?

There's always that chick with the blue hair from Dead Space Downfall (Shen, I think her name was). Most graphic getting-cut-in-half death I've ever seen.

This. In combination with the closing song "Blue", this brought me the closest to real tears that I've ever been in a long time.

<spoiler=As for games, I'll have to go with the obvious and nominate>Andrew Ryan. That was one of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen in a game.

Kurt-015 "Die? Didn't you know? ...spartans never die" Then blows everyone away with a small nuke. Proclaiming your own immortality before blowing your foe into chunks is just epic.

If it must be a game. I'd have to say Grey fox in MGS the twin snakes.

Chewbacca, in I forget which book it was, where he sacrifices his life to save Han's son right before he goes out roaring at the moon that crushes him.

Toshiko Sato from Torchwood.

First she gets shot. Then she accidentally gets the man she loves locked inside a nuclear reactor about to vent radioactive material into the room he's in. Then she has to talk him through it while he waits for death.

Then she finally dies, weeping in Jack's arms.

Afterwards, the team find a goodbye video on her computer, in which she confesses her love for Owen.

I watched this episode 5 minutes before school, and ended up showing up with red eyes, having been crying.

When I killed the final "boss" in Fable 2, it was oh so satisfying to kill the man who killed my dog.

Optimus Prime, original transformers movie. He storms through clearing out all the decepticons challenges megatron to a duel, effectively wins but loses his own life in the process. And yes, it was hot rods fault!
