An angry venomous snake with its poison glands removed.

It's futile attempts to kill you are so adorable. Like having a pet Stewie Griffin.

just get a cat from the shelter, they are more exotic and unique in how you get to know them and how they establish a weird relationship with you.

get 2 or 3 even =)

also, you're saving an animal from certain doom, can't beat that

My suggestion, in all seriousness, is to get a rat.

No, seriously.

The fancy rat is exotic (in that they're not a common pet), they're about as clean as cats and about as smart as dogs, they're relatively cheap, and they don't take a lot of room or specialized equipment to handle. They're usually even-tempered, almost never biters, and can be obtained in a staggering variety of colors, coat types, and ear configurations (standard or dumbo).

Many pet stores carry the more common types, but to get some of the more exotic varieties you'd need to go through a breeder and pay considerably more (black hooded rat from snake-chow tank $3-$10, blue hooded dumbo rat $10-30). No matter what kind you get, however, if you treat them with love and kindness they will love you for their whole life--three to five years if cancer or pneumonia don't take them early.

Below is a link to one of the better fancy rat breeder websites I've found, with a ton of pictures and information on the types out there.

To be perfectly honest,I'd want a goldfish genetically spliced with a lion so it looks like a loin but is goldfish sized and lives in water and eats fish food.
Because seriously, who the hell wouldn't want a lion swimming around in a goldfish bowl?

A wolf (preferably black), like a dog but more wild, cool, and dangerous. If not a wolf, I'd take a fox.
a few different friends have had wolves as pets, as long as you raise them from pups they are pretty cool pets

Platypus. Because.. well.. look at it! It's a Beaver and a Duck fused together with science!
it wasn't science that did it, it was God, just to prove he had a good sense of humour

as for me, i have 4 turtles

at one point i'm getting a saltwater tank with various fish in it, definitely a clown fish and a dog faced puffer and a few invertibrates. probly also get a snake and a lizard or two

i had wanted a koala and told an aussie friend i wanted one and she told me "i'll gladly send you one of those miserable buggers" i've heard they're mean but i still think they are cool animals

P.S. i sincerely apologize to all Platypus enthusiasts out there who are offended by that thoughtless comment about the Platypi. i respect the noble Platypus, and it is not my intention to slight these stupid creatures in any way.

In all honesty, even though I love cats (and already own five), I would like to have a Red Shouldered Hawk. They are just so beautiful in so many ways. <3

The first platypus taken to the natural history museum in London was dismissed as a fake because they thought it was a duck, a beaver and another animal that I can't remember stitched together.
Then someone actually caught a live one and people thought "s**t, these things are messed up!"

NOTE: This is from hazy memories of stuff my mum told me when I was younger, I think It's true but if not then she LIES!

Well to be honest, I would be a bit mystified as well. But "Messed Up" would be more like "F#$^ing Holy Nacho Devil, these things are blooming amazing!"

well, for some strange reason i'm rather good with snakes. i don't have one, but nonetheless if i were to get an exotic pet, it would have to be a snake of some kind.
I recommend a ball python. They are great pets, if you don't mind the size (up to 5 feet for males and, 6 feet for females). But like any snake, make sure that it's a captive bred one. They have way better tempraments and are easier to feed.

I have 3 tarantulas with a fourth coming soon hopefully. Not too tricky to care for, just make sure the temp. and humidity is right for the species. Feed it crickets (or roaches if its a big species), I don't recommend pinky mice or any other vertebrates, as the calcium from their bones is bad for the exoskeleton.

I know chincillas make good pets, and they live for like 20 years. They have the softest fur in the world, and dont need baths or anything, and for exercise, just put him/her in a giant hamster ball. There really cool :p
