Old World Blues, hands down. Fun, wacky, rewarding.

Also Dead Money isn't bad, it's got some great characters and a nice set-up, it's just pointlessly hard, but that makes it more satisfying to conquer. Save Lonesome Road for last (it's actually the worst in my opinion, but it does give some interesting insight).

All you have to do is find their hologram projectors! It was quite simple in my opinion.

Old world Blues and Lonesome Road.

the only problem with Lonesome Road is that they really dropped the ball with Ulysses at the end, still fun to go through though.

The Sink is one of my favorite places ever in a video game. Old World Blues is up there with Shivering Isles on my list of expansions done right. Also, the K9000 cyberdog gun. That is all, my little teddy bears.

Lonesome Road is alright. Red Glare would have been awesome if it didn't repeatedly glitch on me and deal no damage. The SMMG, however, was just the best weapon ever. The story was alright, but nothing special. The ending was well worth the trip though. Fuck yes!

Dead Money was meh. It wasn't bad, but was a bit stale in places. And Goddamit I wanted all of those gold bars!

Honest Hearts was boring. It added some good weapons, but the story was rather bland. It didn't really feel like it belonged. The best part, in my opinion, was the Survivalist's Caches and the last messages left by Randall Clark.

Okay, first thing you might want to know is the DLC are actually tied together (though only in snippits).

The order to play the DLC is the order they were Released (Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old world blues and lonesome road).

Dead Money isn't bad. It's heavily linear and it's kind of unforgiving. You can't just abuse skill mags and chems to get by normal obstacles (some really high skill checks). It's also short if you try to blitz it, being only 2 to 3 hours in total... though first time round I think you will be taking your time. I managed to squeeze 5 hours out of it by just taking my time. Also, Dead Money takes away your gear, limiting you to the weapons and items available in the area... its also unreachable once you complete it (bar console commands).

EDIT: Dead Money has some pretty good characters, and without really spoiling much, Elijah, veronicas mentor, is one of the central figures.

Honest Hearts is... alright. It offers a new location to explore (though it's not particularly dense), some new weapons, backstory to certain elements/characters from the main game and has a one pretty memorable character (in fallout lore, not just new vegas). It also promotes survival skills which were nigh useless. It's not hard and can be blitz with little to no effort... without realising it I ended up finishing it in little over 2 hours. I didn't explore much and just focused on one line of quest. This DLC is affected by your actions in the Mojave (specifically, if you have made allegiances) though it doesn't really affect anything when you get back. Honest hearts limits what you can take with you... though certain perks can increase the cap forced on you.

Old World Blues is BIG, not Mojave big but still pretty big, and it's densely packed too. It has a good dark humour to it too after the dark mood of Dead Money and the Biblical influence of Honest Hearts. It also adds a few new weapons (one which I found particularly amusing) AND a new set of armour that complements any sneaky playstyle. You also get a new home base to use and it's far more functional then Houses suite or any of the factions safe houses. This DLC has loads of references to prior DLC, certain features of the mojave, some backstory to the fallout universe and some teasers for Lonesome Road, the DLC that follows. You can bring what you want, and get some diggs as soon as you arrive, so load up till your hearts content.

Finally, Lonesome Road... honestly, this DLC almost makes New Vegas. I loved it beforehand, but I felt the end of the game just didn't have much weight to it. This DLC? It adds that weight... despite taking place before the Battle for Hoover Dam. It's very linear but incredibly atmospheric... almost oppressively downtrodden in tone, which works for it and the pragmatic character you pursue (and stalks you in a creepy "Oh shit was that him" kind of way"). Bring your best gear here (though be careful with armour, as their is some awesome armour to be found here, and a few pretty good weapons, so leave some space for extra pick ups).

All are good to be honest... but what's more all are needed if you want the full story of the courier and the events of the mojave (and the divide, since Old World Blues makes reference to it).

NONE OF THEM, I REPEAT, NONE OF THEM make the game open ended... you will need to load a prior save to play them or start a new game (though it's recommended you get to a certain level to start them).

If you can, I suggest you pick up the final edition with all the DLC. It would be cheaper then buying each DLC individually. It also comes with a few of the first day mini DLC (armour and weapon packs) and also the Gun Runners Aresnal, which really improves the weapon selection from the start.

Old world blues, no contest there.

dead money was meh, especially with the fact that you get all your shit taken and there are annoying things constantly happening, and the skill checks..jesus i hated that.

old world blues was awesome, definitely a must have, so much humor and wacky fun to be had!

honest hearts was more serious, but definitely worth it, meet an amazing character and have alot of fun killin off some natives

lonesome road really ties together alot of the main story with the DLC story stuff, leading for alot of good weaponry and an awesome satisfying feeling when your done!

Old World Blues is hilarious and adds an interesting new area with lots of great items. It is probably the most entertaining of the DLCs.

The Lonesome Road was downright amazing. It ties together a subplot spanning the main game and all of the DLCs, and it was executed brilliantly. The enemies are harsh, Ulysses is interesting and the Divide is the single most apocalyptic-feeling area I've been to in any game. I love this DLC.

Honest Hearts was... meh. The area was nice and The Burned Man is a fantastic character, but I didn't find myself caring for the plot or feeling the need to explore the area at all.

Dead Money isn't great, but I don't hate it as much as some. It is the only DLC that takes your equipment and it heavily restricts everything you can do to the point of frustration, but the theme and writing were enjoyable in my opinion.

And I'm a sucker for heists.

But if you purchase only one:

Old World Blues if you are seeking silly, humorous entertainment; Lonesome Road if you want a harsh and downright awesome experience.

Top two favorites were Honest Hearts and Lonesome Road. Honest Hearts had a beautiful setting and Joshua Graham was such a boss. Lonesome Road really felt like the end of the game and had some great set pieces.

Old World Blues is probably my favorite, but I think if you could only get one get Lonesome Road. They are all amazing, and they all have some link to Lonesome Road.
Old World Blues has the best humor and some cool items.
Honest Hearts has the best characters in it.
Dead Money has some interesting things and is a higher difficulty if you aren't playing as a melee character.
Lonesome Road gives you a back story, a lot of new items, and moral choices that affect the Mojave Wasteland itself a bit.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that Dead Money was my favorite.

Yes, you don't get to use any of your equipment during it. Yes, it can be difficult and a bit frustrating at times. Still, the whole scenario is interesting, and the focus on survival horror was a really neat change of pace.

Having to actually scrounge for gear and healing items, watching out for traps and ghosts, deciding whether or not you can actually make it through that Cloud filled house. I'd say it's worth buying for the experience alone.

As a person who bought all the main DLC (not the gun runners, or courier's stash) I'd have to say the best are as follows

1:Old world blues is by far the best. You get some of *the* best humor I've ever seen in a video game, a great adventurous land scape to mess around in, tons of easter eggs, really cool new weapons, armors, and quests, and a house that takes two (as apposed to the four, and they are far closer together, you just shoot a special gun to get back to the DLC area, and you're spawned right in front of the house's door, trust me, I would have payed the price for this alone). This house is ,by far, one of the coolest things ever. It's got a cool science-ish theme (but still kind of wasteland-ish) has really, really cool features.
An auto doc that can change hair, and do cosmetic surgery, as well as re-do your traits (only once though), heal you, and fix broken limbs. A sink, which you can get water from.
A farm, which can grow a lot of useful plants.
A seed-grower...thing (which can convert all food mater into a green paste that can be transformed into a lot of other things at a camp fire).
A book shreder which can take books, and make them blank (you can then make skill BOOKS [not magazines] out of them, albeit only once).
A shop.
A little robot that takes coffee mugs and breaks them down into crafting items.
A toaster who does the same thing the robot does, but with toasters (he can also super heat a new weapon in the DLC).
Two light switches, which can turn the lights on, or off, and has two extra light modes:"Smart" which gives the place a green tint, and adds +2 to a few SPECIAL skills for a couple of in-game hours, and "mood" which gives the place a red tint, and does the same thing, but with different SPECIAL skills.
All of these have very, very cool personalities (which can even be turned off, if you don't like them, which means that you can get right to the functions of them, without conversation).
It's also got a lot of throw backs to Christine and Elija.

Lonesome road:My second pick, adds a LOT of back story to the courier, really cool weapons, nice armor (including a courier's trench coat, which has a different symbol on the back, that changes depending on who the player sides with) a great space (which is super destroyed and liner) and, best of all, it makes ED-E the best companion out there. He becomes tougher, does more damage, has built-in work and ammo benches, and can produce Satchel charges (which are basically super strong land mines), flamer fuel, and two types of energy cells every day.

Honest hearts:Has a totally untouched game zone, which actually rains! It's got some neat armor and weapons and all, but the real draw is the story of how Joshua Gram (Ex 2nd in command of the legion) attempts to redeem himself through his cathartic fueled quest to save two tribes (genuine native-american themed) from the destruction another (more powerful) tribe (seeking to join the legion).

Dead money:Has a very "spooky" theme to it, and is the most serious of the DLCs. It tells the story of the courier, and his misfit team of fellow prisoners as they attempt to break into an old Casino vault, lest they die. These are some of the most interesting characters in the game, and include a brother hood of steel members named Christine, who's had her vocal cords cut out, forcing players to communicate via hand signals (a high perception is VERY helpful in understanding).
Dean Domino, an old-world ghoul who used to be a famous singer, and has since become very savvy with the area himself, he's looking out for himself, and only himself.
Dog/God:A nightkin who's suffering from multiple personality disorder, one being a blind follower of Elija, who is willing to do anything for him, and is incredibly stupid, while the other (god) is very, very smart, and hates Elija with all his being. The player chooses which personality the character uses, and it can be switched in/out throughout the DLC.

All these DLCs are very, very good, and the devs have nailed it all so well.

I recognize Old World Blues as being the best one, although I LOVE the concept of Dead Money. However, there are some REALLY bad design decision that kind of keep it from being a great piece of DLC (such as the stupid and pointless toxic clouds).

Old World Blues is the best piece of DLC you can get for New Vegas hands down. Lonesome road is good too but I personally got a lot less enjoyment out of it because the other courier really gets on my tits so I snarked my way through it. The rest you can do without, unless you really want to stay in NW for a little longer.

I still need to finish Dead Money as well as get the rest of the DLC, but just from what I read and heard most of New Vegas's DLC is worth getting.

Old World Blues is a must have. A large open area full of ruined research labs full of interesting tech, not to mention the story and characters.

Dead Money is more of a sadistic experiment than anything else. But the story dovetails into the OWB DLC and while VERY hard it is worth it, if only for the bragging rights.

Honest Hearts is the pretty one of the bunch, set in a canyon valley full of wildlife and tribals. Unfortunately while introducing Joshua Graham aka The Burned Man and the tale of the Survivalist, it doesn't have that much character to it.

Lonesome Road is also a bit of a hardcore run for a player. While the primary antagonist can seem a little emo, ED-E (or at least a clone copy) more than makes up for it and the items you can find are good as well.

The Gun Runners Arsenal is another good choice, adding even more dakka to the massive selection of weapons New Vegas as well as some fun challenges (containing more than a few references in them)

My buying order would be

Old World Blues
The Gun Runners Arsenal
Lonesome Road
Dead Money
Honest Hearts

You could also buy the Ultimate Edition and get all 4 packs plus all the pre order goodie items as well.

That's what I meant. You have to sneak past them to find the projectors, and looking for them while avoiding holograms and finding radios to turn off (or avoiding the shielded ones) actually gets pretty complicated sometimes if I recall correctly.
