Too many people hail the shotgun as the ultimate zombie killing weapon, often claiming that it's easier to get a hit because more pellets land on target, and guaranteed organ shreddage from all the shots yada yada. It's not that hard to simply practice with a weapon until missing an undefending target running straight at you from several meters is near impossible. That aside, the spread of shot isn't as wide as a lot of people would like to believe, the benefit of a reduced need to aim is negligeable and if you tamper with the shotgun to widen the dispersal you lose stopping power as less shot lands on target. Anyone hip firing a shotgun is begging to waste shells anyway, aiming is just smart

The shotgun also has a much shorter range than an assault rifle. They make assault rifles in calibers that can drop a human target from the inertial transference alone (apparently?). A headshot typically kills what most people view as a zombie and even if you don't go for a headshot, a single 45 caliber tumbling round is going shred the internal fleshy bits and pieces of a target to ribbons. It'll do just about as much muscle tissue and bone damage as a shotgun if not more. Then there's the occasional military, swat, or cop zombie wearing protective gear when he died. Pistols and Shotguns are going to SUCK against them.
And that's why I don't use Shotgun on L4D.
If I had to be real about it, I'd sit in somewhere safe (assuming zombies can't climb) like in a tower and then be completly fucked.

personally i would have a katana, its light, quite and deadly. in reality, especially in britain, guns and ammo are pretty rare and a chainsaw is too heavy loud and will get caught on flesh, clothes and bones.

I live a 12 minute walk from my school which has an armoury full of L85's, cadet versions and .22 rifles. They have plenty of .22 and 7.62 ammo, last time I was in the armoury they had around 1000 rounds of 7.62 and about 600 rounds of .22. In a zombie emergency just pop by :)

Regular crowbar.

It's a weapon and a tool, all in one. It's easy to carry and very durable. Also doesn't need sharpening or reloading.

There are a large number of factors and conditions that can change what an ideal weapon is against zombies. Those factors include distance to target, quantity of ammunition available, lighting conditions, and how the zombie needs to die.

For melee a fire axe would be a good weapon. For closer range a shotgun would work, for longer ranges, a scoped rifle would be the best.

zombies are not affected by radioactive waves. they do however become radioactive and walk around contaminating water sources and other things killing a massive amount of people.

The power of Dance and Music. If it works for the Elite Beat Agents, then surely me and two friends can dance our backsides off to rid the world of the zombie threat.

Now, I must pick the song to rid the world of Zombies. Also, I must find a black suit, and become so-macho-it's-camp-or-is-it.
