Which is your favourite, and why?

For me, its the warhammer 40k universe.. so broad, you could have any story in it (there feudal worlds, factory worlds, hive worlds etc), and i really like the artwork and imagery..

I have spent a stupid amount of time reading the inquisitor rulebook and making a backstory for my character..

and the weapons are badass :) - commander shepard needs a chainsword for ME3 :p

40k univerise I love, even if most of it gets hidden by the Space Marines by most things (who are cool in there own right but most of the games/movie/books all revolve around them)

Mass Effect's universe is always interesting.

Assassins Creed is the one I probably like the most, its got a great global conspiracy thing going on, with a mix of historical and sci-fi elements. Plus you have to love massively powerfull secret organisations shaping history.

Pokemon

Seriously, Pokemon would be amazing to live in. To the weary, the concept is dogfighting but more cheery. To the ones who know, Pokemon is a semi-futuristic world in which Humans and super powered animals co-exist in mutual relationships and solve problems with each other. One of the many forms of entertainment is mutual competition to determine which pokemon is stronger and which human mind is smarter. (Pokemon Battles)

Send me to Sinnoh to start my journey please!

The only thing that would be frightening is walking down a path and finding a Scolipede who looks quite hungry.

The best fictional universe for me is probably that of Malazan Book of the Fallen. But as far as videogames go, I think the world the Myth series created was probably the coolest.

Fantasy,D&D's Eberron or maybe Discworld.

Well, I'm going to have to go old-school and say the Star Wars Universe. However, I like the Kotor time period better than the movie time period so not that old-school.

Oh, I also loved the world in the Codex Alera series. It's a series of books written by Jim Butcher, if you didn't know.

But yeah, Star Wars.

For me it would have to be the world of The Wheel Of Time, by Robert Jordan.'
It's an amazingly detailed world full of great locations and lore.

For me, Disc World by Terry Pratchett.

He has written so many books in the series that the entire thing is covered in such minute detail, from the number of people in the Ankh Morpork City Watch to the conversion rate from Ankh Morpork Dollars to Pounds Sterling.

I'm gonna go with Harry Potter as well...as long as you get to be a Wizard.

Yeah, except for the fact the Seanchan, the Aiel, the Shadow, the Whitecloaks, and pretty much everyone else is out to get you thanks to massive racism, fear, and ignorance...sure.

Sci-fi is Mass Effect, hands down. I'm on my sixth full playthrough right now--it's just so engrossing. D:

Fantasy? That's a bit more difficult. I'm dearly attached to Redwall, but the Blue Sword/Hero and the Crown books have some of the most richly detailed settings and characters I've ever seen.

40k, Mass Effect, Halo, LotR and Game of Thrones probably have it best here. Especially that last one. The amount of detail involved in that fictional world...
