Doom... the beginning of FPS awesomeness.... unrelenting violence.. and a great premise.

It never gets old, it still holds up very well.

I'm thinking Ocarina of Time provides one of the most epic experiences in a video game. Time for a remake to prevent the graphictards from slating it for its polygonality. And add in the Earth and Wind temples which got removed.

For me I would have to go with 1 of 2 games. Either Dungeon master (being the 1st decent 1st person rpg and its responsible for a whole genre of games) or Gauntlet (for being the 1st game to bring multiplayer madness to the masses). Either of those I believe have had major impact on games I play today.

For more recent games I would have to go with halflife (still one of the best fps experiences I've ever had) or Morrowind (that kinda perfected the 1st person rpg).

I would also like to state that Planescape would have been in amongst this lot if it had a slightly more friendly UI (like BG2) and Doom should be due to being the game that actually launched the fps genre (but I felt that halflife took this games concept and ran with it making it the better choice).

I REALLY liked Uncharted Waters 2! Its bloody good!

Oh, and err... hmm, what game... what game... Oh, yeah. FINAL FANTASY 7!!! Have you all been smacked with bricks that made you forget 1997? Loads of People put Zelda and no one put a Final Fantasy game? The world has gone mad, I knew, of course... I SAW THE SIGNS!!! :D

Some games are hard compare, so I don't have a single answer. Being an RPG nerd above all else, I'll put it like this:

Most immersive: Baldur's Gate II (not counting the expansion!!!)
Most addictive: World of Warcraft
