Best game openings?

What do you guys/gals think is the best game opening? I was thinking Fallout 3, because it has the Perlman's voice. But then I started a new game in Borderlands, and realised this was the best opening, with a great song, and brilliant (I feel) character intros. But that might just be me. Discuss (and be nice?)

I totally agree with Borderlands, Cage the Elephant are a great band.
Also I always loved the intro to Tales of Symphonia but that's because I am in love with Kosuke Fujishima and the original Japanese version had a really cool J-Rock song.

There is nothing that beats the intro to DMC 3.

borderlands had an awesome intro, def. a good pump up start to the game

another one i like is overlord II, dk why its just catchy to me

kotor has a decent one too, with malak yelling "WIPE THIS PLANET FROM THE FACE OF THE GALAXY!!!"

I rather liked the fable 2 opening scene.... it was really charming and got me in the mood to have some rather quaint adventuring =D

Borderlands, the L4D intro cinematic, and I quite like Assassin's Creed's as well.

MGS2 had a pretty good opening even if the rest of the game sucked.

Same goes for Onimusha 3.

Walking with the guards down to the elevators, then watch Killer Croc step out of one the the lifts. I both giggled like a school girl and pee'd myself all in that one moment.

Titan Quest´s is pretty damm awesome, showing off cutscenes far ahead of its time.

I quite like the opening for Zone Of The Enders. Which Unskippable reminded me of.
but damn, that's one of my favourite openings ever...

I always enjoyed the opening to Shadow of the Colossus. The music is what does it for me.

The actual intro of Sonic: Unleashed was amazing to be fair. Looked reaaalllyyy good. But my favourite so far has been the opening for Valkyria Chronicles, it's like a water colour story. So good.

Agreed, FF in general always pull spectacular intros (and in the recent games then spiral downwards sharply thereafter).

I think Uncharted 2 had an awesome opening though, and I'm surprised no-one mentioned it. Fallout 3's opening is also very engaging, for an opening in which very little indeed happens. Shadow of the Colossus and God of War also have great openings.
